Hello, I am using Quectel RM500U-EA module.
Module info:
Model: RM500U-EA
Firmware: RM500UEAAAR03A13M2G

After using the module in Ethernet router mode (M.2 to RJ45 adapter), the module no longer enables RF after reboot. AT+CSQ always returns 99,99, even though SIM is ready and CEREG registers. This looks like RF policy issue. AT commands and factory reset do not fix it. I would like to request: full factory firmware package, capable of resetting RF, for USB / MBIM usage (non-router). Please advise which firmware package should be used and provide flashing instructions. Linux/MacOS

Hi Silvia,

Requesting the latest RM500U-EA firmware. Currently on RM500UEAAAR03A13M2G_01.300.01.3, redirected here by Maksim after opening a support ticket.

Two issues we’d like firmware to address:

  1. Continuous unsolicited +CME ERROR: 4 spam on all serial ports, starting at boot, independent of AT input. AT+CFUN=0 reduces but does not stop it.

  2. Periodic NCM data-path lockup (usb0 stops passing traffic, AT layer stays responsive, AT+CGPADDR still returns carrier IP, AT+CGACT? shows 1,1). Neither AT+CGACT cycle, AT+CFUN=1,1, nor USB sysfs re-authorize recovers - only a hardware power cycle does. cdc_ncm fails SET_NTB_FORMAT on re-bind, suggesting the Unisoc USB controller holds stale NTB state across VBUS-on resets.

Setup: BPI-R4 / OpenWrt 25.12 / kernel 6.12 / cdc_ncm, bridge mode (AT+QCFG="nat",0), NCM (AT+QCFG="usbnet",5).

Could you also share the Linux flashing tool/instructions?
