Quectel RM502Q-AE CFUN=0 on powerup

Hello, I need your help to understand the behaviour of my RM502Q module. It is connected to openwrt and is working fine but for some reason when the rm502 powers up the AT+CFUN? reports CFUN=0 and I need to send the AT+CFUN=1 to set the module in full functionality but this option do not survive power cycle of the modem. Is this behaviour normal ? Is there a way to set the CFUN=1 by default so that the modem will be in full functionality on power on ? Thanks a lot !

Please check the W_DISABLE pin.
2. Please check the NV

Hello @Bean.Wang-Q thanks a lot for the quick reply, I imagine that the NV is the non volatile memory of the modem, can you tell me the related AT commands I need to use to check what you asked about the NV ? I did not find them in the manual I have, Thanks a lot !

Please check it first.

Hello, this is the module response:

at+qnvfr=“nv/item_files/Thin_UI/enable_thin_ui_cfg”

+QNVFR: 00

I am receiving the same reply from my ES1 RM550v purchased from Quectel.

None of the units in my latest order will pass data, and to add to that; many power up in LOW(cfun=0) after changing USB configurations to MBIM using the NDIS or MBIM driver.

When I attempt to use the command to set at+qnvfw=“nv/item_files/Thin_UI/enable_thin_ui_cfg”,01 I receive an error output.

Please set
at+qnvfw="nv/item_files/Thin_UI/enable_thin_ui_cfg",01
It would take effect after reboot.

Hello Bean, I’ll try this asap. I can’t find a reference to the AT+QNVFW command in the docs I have. Can you share the document that describe this command ? Thanks a lot for your support !

AT+QNVFW is the command to write the NV.
AT+QNVFR means read.
We don’t have any document about this.
These are internal commands. Normally, Quectel does not want the customers to directly operate NV.

Thanks Bean, I need also to ask you if the quectel qmi driver for linux is aldo available for the RM502Q.

The native driver qmi_wwan should support the RM502Q.
You can also try the qmi_wwan_q from Quectel.

I receive this error

Send:at+qnvfw=“nv/item_files/Thin_UI/enable_thin_ui_cfg”,01

Recieve: at+qnvfw=“nv/item_files/Thin_UI/enable_thin_ui_cfg”,01
Recieve: ERROR

Which module is it? EC2x or ? What about the firmware version?

Hello @Bean.Wang-Q . Thank you for the reply. I have the RM550v/gl, just received them last week. None connect!

I am using them in m.2>USB and some of those wacky m.2>Ethernet adaptors floating around. Thank you for any ideas Bean fren

Just try to read

at+qnvfr=“nv/item_files/Thin_UI/enable_thin_ui_cfg”

If it do not exist I think you do not need care about it.

For the 5G module, please check

Recieve: AT+QNWCFG=“thin_ui_cfg”
Recieve: +QNWCFG: “thin_ui_cfg”,0

The device will connect to the internet after enabling the radio, it just won’t pass any traffic. Often starting in LOW.

As described, for you device CFUN=0 on powerup.

After enabling this setting I still am unable to connect to the device and pass data.
