LTE5398-M904 LTE Module EG18EA

Hello,

I am using a zyxel LTE5398 lte modem with EG18EA, mobile operator TIM (Italy). With the upgrade of the lte firmware from rev 08 to 12 or 13, the modem does not see anymore the Band 1. Is there a solution?

You mean, you can’t find band1?

Exactly.
With rev 08 the band 1 is visible and used, with rev 12 and 13 the band 1 is not seen. If you try to lock ontly to the band 1, the modem has no internet. Consider that i am at 300 meters from the tower.

Wow, upgrading the firmware version doesn’t have any effect on the band, have you tried rolling back the version and then cross-verifying it?

The modem arrived with rev 12 (no band 1), then i reverted to 8 (very slow but band 1 was available), and finally installed again rev 12 (and again no band 1). All the tests were done with the latest os ( rev 5) from zyxel.
Did you intend this or some other test?

“Band” should be used as is or should I change to a code or a number?

Now I am at rev 12, should I upgrade to rev 13 before to test?

Results is:
rev 8 see and aggregate BAND 1
rev 12 and rev 13 do NOT see BAND 1 (therefore do not aggregate it)

Check with AT+QMBNCFG="list"
If you have any profile enabled there - disable autoselection as shown in Modem quectel RM502Q-AE is stuck showing LIMSRV and cannot detect 4g - #5 by jfrog and see if it helps.

The result we are looking for is a list, literally. One line is not enough, you can see the example in the thread I linked.

Hi JFROG, I wasn’t able to get the list, but executing the next commands now everything seems to work!!! Man thank you so much! In Italy many user where dismissing this modem because of this problem with the same mobile operator!

One last question: now the aggregation order is 3 1 20, can i change it to 3 20 1 ?

No, it is dictated by the carrier. Most of the time B20 has only 5MHz of bandwidth and it doesn’t bring any benefit at all.

good morning, could you help me understand how to enable band 1? I’m in the same situation, but I can’t give these commands in ssh, the only response I get is “invalid input”, what am I doing wrong? or can you send me a file to go back from version 13 that I currently have installed to go back to version 8? please.. it would be very important to me!

Good evening, is there a way to get the firmware version free from this b1 band problem? Personally I can’t solve it by entering as indicated in ssh, it would be very important for us in Italy.

The commands described here do not work as they are reported, you have to use something like this

command=‘AT+QMBNCFG=“list”’

is there a way to get the correct firmware? Unfortunately I can’t :frowning:
