Latest Firmware Version for Quectel RM520N-GL - 5G problems

Dear @MichalPawlak
We don’t have R05 for Europe, I can share the latest firmware of R03, do you want this?

Dear @nevolex
RM520N-GLAP is PCIe only, you can try to use PCIe interface.

Dear @silvia
Yes, please send me the latest firmware — the one on which 5G on the n78 band works in Europe.

Dear @MichalPawlak
I have sent to your email, please check.

Dear @silvia
Can I get a tool for flashing firmware and instructions on how to install this new firmware I just got?

You can download the flashing tool on our official website. Much appreciation.

Could I also get the latest stable firmware for 5G. RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G_A0.301.A0.301 is installed on my device.

I’ve read there are problems with gmail. dr.jones2000@gmx.de is another email.

Hi Silvia,

My laptop keeps disconnecting from my 5G network. Can I get the latest firmware and tool for upgrading my card? Here are my current specs:

HP Dragonfly Pro ONE

Manufacturer: Quectel
Model: Quectel WWAN RM520N-GL
Firmware: RM520NGLAAR01A06M4G

Dear @jonas7
M520NGLAAR03A03M4G_A0.301.A0.301 is the latest one.

Dear @Techrat
I have sent to your email, please check.

Dear @silvia

I have RM520NGLAAR01A07M4G_01.200.01.200, which I believe is rather old. Could I get the latest firmware, please?

Dear @KRTiger
I have sent to your email, please check.

Hello Quectel Support Team,

I’m experiencing recurring PDP context drops with the RM520N-GL modem in a GL-iNet X3000 router on O2 Germany network.

Hardware & Firmware:

  • Router: GL-iNet X3000

  • Modem: Quectel RM520N-GL

  • Current Firmware: RM520NGLAAR03A04M4G_01.202.01.202 (latest version)

  • Carrier: O2 Germany (MCC: 262, MNC: 07)

  • SIM: Physical SIM

Problem Description:

The modem drops the data bearer (PDP context) daily at approximately 08:16-08:18 UTC, with a pattern over 3 consecutive days:

  • Dec 20: 08:18:41 UTC (49s downtime)

  • Dec 21: 08:17:43 UTC (47s downtime)

  • Dec 22: 08:16:47 UTC (38s downtime)

Technical Evidence from System Logs:

interface modem_0001 is online and the network is not detected, exit

  • Modem stays registered to network ✓

  • SIM status: READY ✓

  • Radio connection: Active ✓

  • Data bearer: DROPPED ✗

Upon recovery:

udhcpc: lease of 10.174.149.206 obtained (IP changed from .205 → .206)

Current Configuration:

  • APN: internet (generic)

  • IP Type: IPV4V6

  • Bands: All LTE (31 bands) + NR-NSA (28 bands) enabled

  • Network Mode: Auto (LTE + 5G NSA)

Already Tested (No Success):

  1. ✗ Disabled 5G NSA (LTE only) - same issue

  2. ✗ Disabled Network Acceleration (HW/SW/Off) - same issue

  3. ✗ Different firmware versions on 2 separate X3000 routers - same issue on both

  4. ✗ Band selection (LTE only, 5G SA, 5G NSA) - same issue

Questions:

  1. Is this a known issue with RM520N-GL firmware and O2 Germany’s network?

  2. Are there AT commands to improve PDP context stability or handle carrier-initiated bearer refreshes?

  3. Is there a newer firmware (post-R03A04) available that addresses PDP stability?

  4. Should I configure specific network registration settings for O2 Germany?

  5. Is there any newer firmware for this modem that fixes this stability issue?

I am a big fan of GLiNet and your Quectel modem, so I would not like to change to other providers, but this issue is very annoying, especially that i run production stuff on this router, and it also interrupts when I have meetings - which is not nice.

Note: The same SIM works perfectly in an iPhone 5G with zero disconnects over years, suggesting this is a modem-carrier interaction issue, not network coverage.

I can provide full system logs and AT command outputs if needed for diagnostics.

Thank you for your assistance!

Dear @a1010s
I have sent latest firmware to your email, please test again.

Hello, I am using a Quectel RM520N-GL module with firmware version RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G. The modem is detected in Windows, but it cannot find any mobile network signal in Europe. Could you please provide the correct EU (EAA/EUX) firmware and flashing instructions for full European LTE/5G band support? Thank you!

Dear @atelekes
GL module only can flash GL firmware.
Is it possible to check AT commands on your side?

Dear Silvia, my current firmware is RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G. Can I get the latest version please? Thank you!
