Thank you very much for sending the firmware files.

I have a couple of questions to help me understand the versioning, as some of it is a bit confusing. I would be grateful if you could help clarify.

My first question is about the two “R03” versions. The new file you sent has a newer date but seems to have an older version number.

Here are the details:

The OLDER firmware I WAS using:

  • File: RM520NGLAAR03A04M4G_01.204.01.204.zip
  • Version: R03A04
  • Date: 2024-10-22

The NEWER firmware you sent:

  • File: RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G_A0.300.A0.300.zip
  • Version: R03A03
  • Date: 2025-04-28

Could you please explain why the firmware with the newer date has a lower version number (R03A03) than the older one (R03A04)?

My second question is about the difference between the “R01” and “R03” release paths. You also sent me this file:

  • File: RM520NGLAAR01A08M4G_01.206.01.206

Could you explain the difference between the R01 and R03 firmware series? When should I use the R01 version, and when should I use the R03 version?

For context, I did test that R01A08 version previously, but I experienced some instability issues with it, so I switched back to an R03 version which was more stable for me.

Finally, on a side note for your team and other users that might to try to use this firmware:

My router (a GL-iNet Spitz AX X3000) gave an “incompatible” error when I tried to install the new R03A03 firmware through its web interface. However, I was able to flash it successfully using the QFirehose tool from the command line, and it is now connected and working with great stability.

=>You don’t sent me the current firmware, so I sent the R03A03, R03A04 and R03A04 has some different, like certification. And power class is different.
Could you explain the difference between the R01 and R03 firmware series? When should I use the R01 version, and when should I use the R03 version?
=>R01 will not be maintained later, you can use R03 baseline.
My router (a GL-iNet Spitz AX X3000) gave an “incompatible” error when I tried to install the new R03A03 firmware through its web interface.
=>For this, you need to check with your router manufacture.
I will sent R03A04 firmware to you, you can try again.

I am working with an internal RM520N-GL module
(firmware: RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G) inside my laptop. Please provide the latest firmware package and compatible flash tools (QFlash_PCIE or others) including firehose files for SDX55.

Also thanks for the interesting explanation about the differences between R03A03 and R03A04. Do I understand correct that R03A04 has a higher power class / power limit, hence can potentially transmit faster than R03A03?
