How to get new firmware for EM05-G?

We’ve got plenty of EM05-G modules, which we want to use in IoT systems (with Ubuntu). Unfortunately, none of them is finding satellites. To examine this issue further, we want to update to the latest firmware. Currently, it is EM05GFAR07A07M1G.

  • where can we download this firmware?
  • how to install it? Is this possible “in-machine”, without a dev board?
  • do we need QFlash or another program for this? Where can we download this?
  • where can we find instructions how the upgrade procedure can be done?

Maybe you want to send the firmware and the upgrade tool via mail?
TIA

Sorry, but we didn’t receive anything from you. Could you please send it again?

Hi Jonathan. wang could you send me these updates too. thanks

We didn’t get the update yet. You already have our valid e-mail address. I answered elsewhere to this “another address”, but obviously you haven’t seen this message yet.
Please send us the update, thanks.

I would also like to get the latest firmware to update on Linux.

Dear Support Team!

I have a Lenovo laptop with Quectel EM05-G modem, but it does not work on my system (Windows 11 Pro 24H2), does not connect to the mobile network

My current firmware is EM05GFAR07A07M1G.

Quectel GNSS sensor driver 1.0.2.12 (05/21/2024)

Quectel EM05-G driver from Microsoft 10.0.26100.4768 (07/15/2025)

Is there an update available?
Please send me new firmware and tool to mcdanix@gmail.com

Subject: Firmware request for Quectel EM05-G (FCC locked – need global version)

Dear Quectel Support,

My EM05-G module is currently running firmware EM05GFAR07A07M1G.
The module is locked (AT+CFUN=1 returns “operation not allowed”) and is now in QDLoader 9008 mode.

Could you please send me the latest global firmware package (EM05GFAR07A08M4G or newer) and the official QFlash tool to restore it?

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,
Javier Vidal Lampón
