EG912U-GL Australia Voice Call Compatibility

Hi Quectel Forum,

I’m a novice developer and don’t know much about mobile networks, but I’m buying a product with the EG912U-GL module in it. I’m in Australia, and after our 3G network shut down, the government told Telcos to start banning any mobile device that tried to make triple zero calls using 3G (since they wouldn’t work). I’m not too sure about the mechanics of how this works, having never done a project with a mobile chip before, so hopefully you know more about how it works.
While I know the EG912U-GL is fully capable of making 4G VoLTE calls, I just wanted to check whether it was configured to correctly route voice and emergency (000) calls using 4G VoLTE in Australia so that it doesn’t get banned. Is this done in the module’s firmware, or is that something that the developer of the product needs to program in using AT commands? Again, I don’t know a whole lot about how this works, so I appreciate your help.

Thanks,

-Johnny

Hi @macquarieice
Thank you for the email.
Yes, the module EG912U-GL support 4GVoLTE call and it will route the voice call and emergency call using 4G VoLTE.

The module’s FW does support LTE and VOLTE capabilities, meanwhile the developer needs to configure or enable supported VOLTE setting through AT command.

You can check whether the telco has been establish VOLTE or not using the command AT+COPS?
