EC25AFFAR07A08M4G Firmware for EC25 AF

Hello,

i would like to have the specific firmware for the AF series; EC25AFFAR07A06M4G

Thank you, Rene.

EC25AFFAR07A06M4G canā€™t be found. I have sent you the latest firmware

i need latest firmware for ec25-af and rm500q-gl

I have sent you the latest firmware

Hello.

I purchased 15 EC25A from Ebay. They are used to connected to the APNs that we have arranged with several US carriers. They seem to work for the most part. The APN connections are established from Linux (x86_64) with recent 5.x kernels. However it has been noted that the modem will spontaneously reboot. We notice the /dev/ttyUSBX, /dev/cdc-wdmX and wwanX devices disappear and will reappear when the reboot completes.

This happens even when we are no using the modems. It seems to happen with almost every carrier we test, T-Mobile, AT&T, Orange, VZW, Vodafone .etcā€¦ Thus it does not appear to be network specific.

Could it be that we require an updated firmware for our devices?

ati
Quectel
EC25
Revision: EC25AFAR05A06M4G

I appreciate any feedback you can provide.

Regards,
John

I have sent you the latest firmware, pls try again

Wow, thank you for the quick response!

I received the attachment and was able to download an unzip it.

Iā€™m running on a fairly barebones Linux system. Is the procedure and tools to perform a firmware update available somewhere?

I can compile software, if necessary.

Thank you once again,
John

Iā€™ve been interacting with the modem via qmicli as mmcli didnā€™t give us enough control for our complicated test scripts.

Could I use qmi-firmware-update, if not I think I need someone to send me the code for qflash so that I can compile it for my system?

I have sent you the tool, pls try again

This firmware version is now reported as:

ati
Quectel
EC25
Revision: EC25AFFAR07A14M4G

I will test a few devices and see if the reboots continue or if this resolves the problem.

How does one receive notifications when new firmware is published?

Again, thank you very much for your assistance!!! :+1:

John.

Things are much worse on the new firmware. The modem will not connect to ANY APN now.

error: couldn't start network: QMI protocol error (14): 'CallFailed'
call end reason (3): generic-no-service
verbose call end reason (3,2001): [cm] no-service

I was able to connect with this SIM before the firmware upgrade.

Many of the QCFG settings are no longer honored. I tried to only scan for LTE:

Cannot change nwscanmode:

at+qcfg="nwscanmode"
+QCFG: "nwscanmode",0

OK
at+qcfg="nwscanmode",3,1
OK
at+qcfg="nwscanmode"
+QCFG: "nwscanmode",0

OK

Cannot change nwscanmodeex:

at+qcfg="nwscanmodeex"
+QCFG: "nwscanmodeex",63

OK
at+qcfg="nwscanmodeex",16
OK
at+qcfg="nwscanmodeex"
+QCFG: "nwscanmodeex",63

OK

Please help.

Any updates on why I cannot get the new firmware to communicate on the network?
Is there a way for me to roll back to the previous firmware?

Where can I find previous firmware versions so that I can try to rollback to get the device working again?

Interesting. I have the same error now with latest version of firmware for the EC25-V (Verizon). Which is EC25VFAR02A14MG. Did not happen with previous version EC25VFAR02A13MG. Anyway, I am wondering that you tried your EC25-A with VZW (Verizon). As far as I know, the EC25-A is NOT supposed to be used for Verizon. Thats the reason we are using the EC25-V. However, we also have the EC25-A, but only for ATT . And this works perfectly. Running on official openwrt device, using PPP (not QMI), though. But ongoing issues with Verizon.

Good suggestion.

I tried with my Verizon SIM but still no luck on this firmware.

It doesnā€™t appear to be registered:
at+cgreg?
+CGREG: 0,0

error: couldn't start network: QMI protocol error (14): 'CallFailed'
call end reason (3): generic-no-service
verbose call end reason (3,2001): [cm] no-service

Iā€™ll give it a shot with PPP instead of QMI but QMI did work on the other firmware. It seems this latest firmware isnā€™t that great.

Iā€™m surprised that the Quectel support is not longer responding to my queries now that the device is totally useless.

My initial problem was that the device spontaneously reset when on the old firmware, but that was better nothing, which is where I am now :frowning:

Anyway, thank you for the response Augustus.

Quectel support (Herbert?) are you able email me EC25VFAR02A13MG or another firmware version for the EC25-A so I can attempt to get this modem operational again?

I have sent it to your email, please try

Hello Herbert. You already sent me this version on 12/13/2022, see below.

My previous firmware EC25AFAR05A06M4G is able to register on the network and pass traffic but the modem will reboot at random times, even when itā€™s not in use.

With EC25AFFAR07A14M4G none of my SIMS will even register on the network.

The md5sums match so content is same. I can try to reload that same firmware if you think that will help. If not I was hoping that you might have another firmware version that I can try? Even if itā€™s a previous version that I can test with.

Thanks again,
Wayne

I too am trying to get the latest firmware for my EC25-AF. Can you email? Thank you.
