Updated firmware and no longer connecting

Hi everyone,

I bought an RM502Q-AE about a week ago to use in an openwrt router. When I first got it, I was having some issues relating to constant device disconnects. I could just barely get a connection going before it powered off and back on. I thought that this might have been a firmware issue. I found a firmware download on these forums “RM502QAEAAR11A04M4G_01.004.01.004.zip.” I used QFlash V6.0. Unfortunately, I learned my issue was not the firmware, but instead was a lack of sufficient power. So I fixed that issue.

Unfortunately, now i’m having issues that were not present before the upgrade. an AT+COPS? returns 0. When I try to establish connections with qmi my errors are “Current operator MCC/MNC is still unknown” and “Current operator id is still unknown.” It seems like I got further than this prior to the firmware upgrade, to where it would get to registering the SIM. It’s like all the operators just disappeared.

An AT+COPS=? returns “(1,“T-Mobile”,“T-Mobile”,“310260”,12),(1,“T-Mobile”,“T-Mobile”,“310260”,7),(3,“311 490”,“311 490”,“311490”,12),(1,“313 340”,“313 340”,“313340”,12),(3,“FirstNet”,“FirstNet”,“313100”,7),(3,“311 490”,“311 490”,“311490”,7),(1,“Verizon”,“Verizon”,“311480”,7),(1,“AT&T”,“AT&T”,“310410”,7),(0-4),(0-2)”

I have a band n41 and band b66 tower a mile away, clear sight, and my signal seems great on the modem.
+CSQ: 31,99
+QRSRP: -71,-74,-32768,-32768,LTE
+QSINR: 10,10,-32768,-32768,LTE

Seems it’s only connecting to LTE right now, but I’ll fix that later. The 4G is actually weaker than the 5G due to LoS.

My +CREG: 0,0

What happened with the firmware update? Were there settings that got wiped that I needed when I upgraded? I purchased from what seems like Waveshare on Amazon. How can I get this thing back to where it was pre-upgrade? It was fully my error to upgrade the firmware, I should not have done it, but I didn’t think power was my problem and was trying any angle.

Appreciate any help from anyone - I admit I’m a rookie in the modem world but am trying my best.

If it helps, I use T-Mobile and have a business account for a static IP. My APN should be b2b.static. I had my sim in the integrated FX2000 router they had using internal crummy antennae and all worked great.
