Unable to get XGPSXTRADATA working

Hello,

I am unable to get my Quectel EC25-E module to recognise the xtra2.bin file I have downloaded to the RAM. Please see the output below:

+QFLST: “RAM:xtra2.bin”,62323

AT+QGPSXTRADATA=“RAM:xtra2.bin,62323,60”

AT+QGPSXTRADATA=“RAM:xtra2.bin”

+QGPSXTRADATA: 0,“1980/01/05,19:00:00”

Can you please help troubleshoot this issue? Do I need to update the firmware? I am running Linux on my desktop.

Thanks,

Tom

Dear Ttuffin,

Hi Kyson,

I did follow the guide before, but it seems to me the xtra2.bin file is not being used. When I run “at+qgpsxtradata?” I still see the wrong date. I ran everything again from scratch, starting with downloading the xtra2.bin file via HTTP to RAM and then enabling xtradata. I still have the same problem. Note that I skipped the step “AT+QFUPL” since I already downloaded the file, and I skipped “AT+QFDEL” since I don’t want to remove it right now. Please see the output below:

AT+QHTTPURL=40,80
CONNECT

OK
AT+QHTTPURL?
+QHTTPURL: http://xtrapath1.izatcloud.net/xtra2.bin

OK
AT+QHTTPGET=80
OK

+QHTTPGET: 0,200,61766
AT+QHTTPREADFILE=“RAM:xtra2.bin”,80
OK

+QHTTPREADFILE: 0

AT+QFLST=“RAM:*”
+QFLST: “RAM:xtra2.bin”,62266

OK
AT+QGPSXTRA=1
OK
AT+QGPSXTRATIME=0,“2020/09/09,14:17:30”,1,1,3500
OK

+QGPSURC: “xtradataexpire”,0,“1980/01/05,19:00:00”

AT+QGPSXTRADATA=“RAM:xtra2.bin”
OK
at+qgpsxtradata?
+QGPSXTRADATA: 0,"1980/01/05,19:00:00"

OK
AT+QGPS=1
OK
at+qgpsxtradata?
+QGPSXTRADATA: 0,"1980/01/05,19:00:00"

OK

Please try to use browser to download the xtra file, do not use module HTTP to download it. Thanks!
By the way, whether you have to confirm it can fast the position compare with no xtra file. Thanks!

Hi Kyson,

Any reason why I can’t use the HTTP function? Isn’t the point of the feature to be able to download file directly to RAM? If I must download using my browser, how do I transfer it to the EC25?

RE: your second question, I am unable to obtain any GPS fix, no matter where I place the EC25 (inside/window/outside). I am trying to use this XTRADATA function to see if it helps me get a fix.

The stronger antenna resolved the issue with the GPS fix. I used the Siretta MIKE3A 28dB.
