UART connection to BG95-M3 modem not responding

Hi,

I have been trying to connect the quectel bg95-m3 to UART for a while now and expecting to recieve responds from sending AT-commands. The problem is that UART never responds, even if I try to replace the BG95-M3 with a new one.

If there are any suggestions or example codes you know of that could be of help, please let me know. I just want to make the modem communicate via UART and respond to AT commands, nothing else.

Here is a picture of the hardware, it is connected via Raspberry Pi Sixfab Base HAT:

Thanks,

Hello @stran_r

from the documentation I understand that UART is disconnected by default and needs to be activated by soldering two jumpers SJ7 and SJ8. See here.

Also I am not sure whether BG95-M3 is compatible with this hat as it is not listed here.

Thanks
Felix.

Hi, @felmue

Thank you for your help. I noticed that the base hat does not work with the BG95-M3 modem. However when i use a normal PCI-E to PCI-E adapter, it still does not work. Do you know why that may be?

Thanks,

Hello @stran_r

sorry, no, I don’t. I have no experience with PCI-E cards.

Thanks
Felix
