SIB2-NB not decoding in Quectel BC66 Module

Hi,

We are testing our custom NB-IoT eNodeB with Quectel BC66 UE. Able to perform cell search and UE is able to decode till SIB1-NB. We verified our NB-IoT eNodeB with srsUE. It is able to decode till SIB2-NB.
But with Quectel BC66 UE Module , we are facing issue with decoding SIB2-NB.
Any reasons of decoding failure. Not suspecting issue at UE’s L1/RRC. As decoding is successful with srsUE.
To decode the Quectel UE logs at PHY level, we found out that we need Engineering mode firmware(at NPDSCH/NPDCCH/CRC failures).

Current firmware version which is being used is BC66NBR01A07.

Can you please send the latest Engineering mode firmware version of Quectel Module, so that we can debug the PHY layer logs at UE side.

After this no info is being shown about SIB2-NB.

To decode Signal at NPDSCH level i.e at UE’s PHY, what else to be done?

Thanks & regards,

Sravya Keerthana R

Hi,

We were able to see only MIB and SIB1-NB message in the RRC log decoder.

SIB1-NB is successfully decoded. Message contents are matching with out eNodeB.

Thanks & Regards,

Has it stopped outputing any other SIB or NAS messages?

Hi @herbert.pan-Q , yes.

We observed SIG_L1SI_DATA_IND message is repeatedly seen in the GKLogviewer window. What does this message indicate please let us know.

Also we would link to see the PHY messages at UE side, to check if CRC for SIB2-NB is pass/fail.

Please help us in enabling the PHY messages at UE side.

Hi @herbert.pan-Q ,

Please let us know what can be done on this issue asap. Also we updated the firmware of the BC66 module to BC66NBR01A11. Hope firmware is not the issue.

What can be done to enable PHY layer logging at UE module side?

What does SIG_L1SI_DATA_IND message mean in the UE logs?

Thanks & Regards,

Sravya Keerthana R

Is your BC66 only used for research or personal development? BC66 has reached its end of life. Do you need to replace it with BC660KGL?

Hi @herbert.pan-Q ,

We are trying for UE attach of NB-IoT UE Module with our eNodeB.

As per our understanding, using BC660K Eval kit, we can view the logs/messages in EPAT tool.

Does this EPAT tool helps us in capturing the PHY layer messages(ex: CRC fail/pass for NPDSCH channel) or only captures till RRC messages?

Also, do we require any engineering firmware version to capture PHY layer messages using BC660K eval board or using latest firmware version available in the Quectel support forums will work?

Please let us know. Our objective is to view messages at UE side on all the stack layers(PHY/MAC/RRC/NAS).

Thanks & Regards,

Sravya Keerthana R

Yes, EPAT makes it much easier to view and analyze logs. The PHY/MAC/RRC/NAS components are included, but I’m not sure if it covers all the messages you were expecting.

Hi @herbert.pan-Q ,

Can you please share the latest version of EPAT tool, latest firmware version of BC660K-GL-TE-B KIT, and the corresponding database file.

Thanks & Regards,

Sravya Keerthana R
