Running Now and its rebooting.
Connected to tower now and have internet now…Thank YOU !
I know this thread has been inactive for a while, but I thought I would share that my modem is working. Here are the steps I took with a VZW 5G Home Internet SIM.
I followed the steps from @jfrog; however, the APN is different for 5G Home Internet.
AT+QMBNCFG=“AutoSel”,0
AT+QMBNCFG=“Deactivate” → This always returned an error for me and I don’t know why.
For the APN, I used this command
AT+CGDCONT=1,“IPV4V6”,“v5ga01internet”
I removed the other entries listed above using this command
AT+CGDCONT=2;+CGDCONT=3;+CGDCONT=4;+CGDCONT=5;+CGDCONT=6;+CGDCONT=7.
Then, reboot with AT+CFUN=1,1
It is working as I am typing this right now.
Is your module production or engineering sample?
I’ve got both VZW and TMO working on engineering sample RM521-F with no issues.
On M.2 to RJ45 Ethernet host boards. They worked on M.2 to USB dev board as well.
Do you know if there has been a firmware update for the RM521f_gl?
Mine is on RM521FGLEAR05A02M4G
As far as I’m aware, there is unfortunately still no 5G router using that module here “out of the box”. Closest in that regard is the Mikrotik Chateau 5G R16 which uses the modem RG520F-EU, but doesn’t have Wifi6 and only LAN ports with 1 Gbps (who decides that, is also beyond me, but anyway).
Most of you seem to use the RM521F-GL in conjunction with some M.2 slot equipped router board such as that Mcuzone MR5210). I wonder how hot the Quectel modules get and what the proper cooling design is. Do you use a heatsink only, active ventilation or nothing at all?
Also, what are the major differences between the RM521F-GL and the RG520F-EU besides the form factor? I read, the former has even 3CA for 5G while the latter only 2CA. Is that correct?
