RM520N-GL sim-card can't register in the LTE network LIMSRV

Dear support,

I have two M12K21 (Suncomm Outdoor CPE Router) with Quectel inside RM520N-GL (RM520NGLAAR01A06M4G).
I’ve tried to connect to the LTE network by two different operator sim-cards but LIMSRV status both, don’t register to the network.
Both sim-cards identified by router, both are working ok in different indoor router (Huawei for example).
I’ve installed last firmware for M12K21 from SunComm but still NOK.
APN configured manual and in auto mode. Network level is ok. MBN deactivated. Once tried to AT+QPRTPARA=3 - same situation.

Could you please check - what the issue may be in config RM520N-GL?
Thank you in advance!

Hi Anton,
Have you tried set apn “IPV4” on GUI and check after with at command? I think we have same model, but from different company. Try to set “IPV4” in GUI, choose your apn and press “save” button.
After this check “AT+CGDCONT” and check if apn type changes to “IP” instead of “IPV4V6”,
if not, they have bug, they fix it for me. But you can change it by command "at+cdgcont=1,“IP”,“internet.mts.ru

and try to attach with “at+cfun=4” and after this “at+cfun=1”

Will try tomorrow, but I think I did it. As I remember well - this config change back to ipv4v6 (I thought that it is ok because both operators provide dualstack functional). But I re-test by your procedure. Thanks for help!

250 99 is “Beeline/OJSC Vimpel-Communications” according to this
The APN configured (MTS) is probably wrong for the carrier.

Dmitry,

I’ve checked this way for tele2 and mts sim.
WebGUI really doesn’t change APN “IPV4”/“IPV4V6” states, so it is a bug.
Then I tried to configure APN by AT commands - both APN changed to “IP”

So it seems that smth wrong else… May be you know (or smth else who read it  ) how to check if router/RF module locked by developer?

Hi,

RF part register in the nearest base station because of sim card doesn’t register (attach) to customer network - I try to understand why now (by incorrect APN providing, or may be blocked by developer, or bad IMEI / another thing that could be blocked by sim card provider)

Base station cell could be different each time (depends on location, RF signals and so on) - I see different MNC MCC values there…

I’m not sure I fully understand your test environment.
Which operator does the SIM you are using belong to?

I’m using two different sim cards (MTS 25001 and TELE2 25020) in this router M12K21 + RM520NGLAAR01A06M4G.
Both sim cards are working ok in others modems.
In this device both sim cards can’t be attached to the Network and device is gonig to LIMSRV mode (connect to different operator base station).

Then I suggest to force the registration to a proper network.

I tried to fix “AT+COPS” operator but I’m going to repeat test if you provide me correct procedure, please

My understanding you just need AT+COPS=1,2,"25001" to force registration to MTS, assuming MTS SIM is in use.

I did this test but with tele2 sim (AT+COPS=1,2,“25020”). Unfortunetely - NOK. But it seems that sim card tried to SEARCH and then moved to LIMSRV. Logs below.

Suncomm recommended to upgrade RM520NGLAAR01A06M4G to the last firmware.
As I understand It is - RM520NGLAAR01A07M4G_01.201.01.201 with

“NETWORK Relevant technical controls have been carried out to restrict normal network
registration in regions such as RUS and IRN, thus ensuring that the module
can be used only for civilian applications.
GENERAL The new firmware version cannot be downgraded to previous versions,
otherwise the module will not be able to work normally.
GENERAL Supported the feature of routing behind mobile station.”

So, tech. support, It will be good to know (confirm, or explain how) if we can use router in Russia commercial network for admistrative needs…

@Anton_Onokhin did updating the firmware to the new one solved the issue?
I am facing a very similar problem. But only with 5G network. LTE works fine…

I’ve had simmilar issues and was finally able to resolve it.

Run the following AT commands:

AT+QMBNCFG=“AutoSel”,0
AT+QMBNCFG=“Deactivate”
AT+CFUN=1,1

Then reboot

Thanks,
But I get an error when trying to AT+QMBNCFG=“Deactivate”

Check with AT+QMBNCFG="list" first.

Also, depending how you are sending the commands, make sure you are escaping the double quotes.

Thanks, but the double quote was correct.
Also, there was no MBN selected. So, I don’t think this is the issue for me.
