DL is double that I was getting with the MCU board. I knew it was unstable but I didn’t appreciate just how much it was holding things back…!
Towards the rear of the pcb there is a switch and 4 points, presumably to solder in a header and attach a 5v fan ?? I haven’t tried pressing the switch so I don’t know if the two are related or if it’s used something else?
Seem to get some activity led on the RJ45 then nothing, I guess everyone else has the same?
does any encounter no internet connection momentary (under 1 minute)? the unit can ping 1.1.1.1 but not google.com.
i just made a script that occasionaly check and overwrite /etc/resolv.conf (symlink) to 1.1.1.1 and 2606:4700:4700::1111. and hoping this will fix it. just need a more permanent sulotion.
is it possible to tab into quectel connection manager and once connected to carrier then run userscript?
What modem? Modifying resolv.conf on these seems to cause big issues. I discovered early on, tailscale needs the no DNS flag added to it when connecting to a tailscale account/tailnet. Even adding to the resolv.conf screws up the modems ability to set DNS from the carrier. I ended up having to flash fresh to fix that after it happened.
@ iamromulan
is it possible to run a userscript every time unit make/register a connection?
is it worth the hassle to add cpu usage to simpleadmin? i modified the files to do this few months back but modem stopped working due crappy MCU board. i just need to look for backup or redo the script.
btw, does your script run every 30s regardless of viewing simpleadmin’s gui page or not?
Simpleadmin 1.0/the main branch will be archived/deprecated soon. We’ve switched to a JS based system where the web browser sends the AT commands instead of a script running on interval. There’s only a few things left to finalize before I move it to main.
Give it a try, use the link in the readme to download the development branch version of the toolkit.
I have RM520 and RM521 and CP520.
changing the dns name in resolv.conf does not help. currently the unit has connection to tailscale but dns resolve does not work. this had always been the issue for months. the CP520 had similar issue but not as bad.
is it possible to ssh to unit without using ttyd webui. tried ssh root@192.168.225.1 but connection refused. port 22 or 443.
Solution: Fresh flash and install from the dev branch toolkit. Dropbear is an option to install now as well from the development toolkit if you want SSH.
Once the resolv.conf file is messed with you have to do a fresh flash.
The issue was tailscale was messing with it and that was fixed on both the main and development branch. Here’s the line that fixed that on the main branch:
I have this PoE injector lying around, do you think it is okay to use it to power on this new rework board? I tried it for few seconds and power came on fine but I disconnected it quickly because I am not sure if it is compatible with the power requirements.
Working good!
Only hiccup i got was webui is NOW at port 80. i thought it messed up my rm521f so fw flash and same issue. then tried without :8080 and wah-lah.
Unrelated to simpleadmin, but i hope dns resolve to work 100% on the rm521f.
Yup. Lots of new stuff. Port 80 redirects to 443 and the UI is now login protected. Root password and admin (simpleadmin) password can be different if you wanted to. Open the console and go under settings to change those anytime. Shouldn’t have DNS problems as long as resolv.conf is left alone for the modem to manage.
There’s a way to turn DNS Passthrough on and off as well.
You can power it through: the barrel port (12v), USB C (5v3a minimum), or passive PoE.
You can access simpleadmin through the modems built in DHCP, even with IP passthrough turned on through Ethernet, USB, or both. (USB if you are in ECM or RNDIS mode)
suggestion:
can you have a version verification if we want to reinstall/update simpleadmin?
request:
is it possible to have cpu usage on simpleadmin?
question:
does watchcat reconnect cell connection? is it possible to run my own script after every qmap_connection_ manager make a successful connection?
i made a script to ping google.com and 8.8.8.8 every 3 sec. it had issue with internet but show connected.
Maybe the MCU Zone Board I had was an exception.
I just set my RM521 up in the newer Dual-Q 5G2PHY kit and my speeds are not any faster and it’s running over 10c hotter. 48c-52c vs 37c in the MCU Zone one.
