RM520N-GL Firmware Update Lenovo Thinkpad T14 Gen 6 Linux

have a Quectel RM520N-GL installed in a Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 6 running Linux.

Current firmware:

ATI
Quectel
RM520N-GL
Revision: RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G

AT+QGMR
RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G_04.214.04.214

AT+QCFG=“usbnet”
+QCFG: “usbnet”,2

I would like to update to the latest official firmware for the exact R03A03M4G hardware branch.

I understand that the current R03A03 firmware is:
RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G_A0.305.A0.305

Could you please provide the official firmware package and the corresponding release notes/changelog?

Please also confirm that A0.305 is an appropriate upgrade from my current 04.214.04.214 firmware.

The modem is being used in MBIM mode on Linux.

I have sent the latest firmware to your email. Please try again.

Hello Hebert
Thank you! I have downloaded it.

Question:
I’m trying to solve a roaming problem in which, when overseas on the Google Fi network, I am unable to connect to the local networks (tested in Germany and Japan) but on the same day, with the same sim/carrier works fine on a different modem in those same places. I am able to connect/roam onto foreign carriers without problem in the US. Your firmware release notes contain notable MBN changes that seem like they could plausibly fix my issue.

Before I install your FW, I want make sure I understand:

1: I am running Linux (not Windows) on my T16 Gen 6. The Lenovo updated Windows “Driver” package (from earlier this year) contains an updated FW load for the device. The latest (August 2026) contains:
RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G_04.220.04.220 - Generic
RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G_JP_04.214.04.214 - SoftBank&KDDI&DCM
RM520NGLAAR03A20M4G_04.217.04.217- Verizon

2: My current firmware: 04.214.04.214 appears to be a lenovo-specific firmware branch, and is not necessarily ‘older’ just because “A0.305.A0.305 is a bigger number than 04.214.04.214”? Should I only install a Lenovo-specific version? If so, can you give me that Lenovo firmware in a linux-friendly format (Firehose), or do I have to use extract the FW package from the Windows driver bundle?

Thank you!

Let me know if there any problem with running your standard load above instead of the Lenovo-specific one.

Based on the information you provided, it appears to be a standard firmware.
