RM520N-GL downgrade firmware

Hello!
I have RM520N-GL.
SW: RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G_04.208.04.208.
OC: RM520NGLAP-M20-LTA.

How to downgrade RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G_04.208.04.208 to RM520NGLAAR01A06M4G_01.001.01.001?

Thank you!

Did you tried QFlash ?

I did. But QFlash needs to see COM port to connect AT, i can’t see COM port in Device Manager

No idea why COM ports are not present .

Did you tried to set it into EDL mode ( so port 9008 should apear) ? There are pins ,with have to be shortcuted ,and then it will apear.

When set “show hidden devices” i can see com-port, but always in disconnected state:

If it is hidden ( not currently connected) then you not set it to EDL mode properly…

If you see one message earlier, in the list of hidden devices on my computer there was a COM port (COM3 UDE EDL Quectel). The COM port never existed until today. And the software version on my RM520N-GL modem (GLAP, PCIE only) was automatically updated from 04.204.04.204 to 04.208.04.208. All these notes lead me to believe that my modem can switch to EDL mode in Windows operating system with some software. How can i swich to EDL mode, using software, not short connection pins method in the bottom side of modem?

I need the latest drivers for Windows and Linux. Note that this module is PCIe only (GLAP), so these drivers are needed. And please, software utilities required versions for Windows and Linux that can connect to the modem via AT commands.

Thanks in advance!

For AP there is a special QFlash called QFlash PCI…

Can you email me this QFlash PCI version?

Dear Support, can you please email me QFlash PCI version and required driver for Windows 11Pro?

Dear MiG41, is any solution for my question please?

I.e. here there is QFlash PCIE GitHub - 4IceG/RM520N-GL: Quectel RM520N-GL is 5G IoT module specially optimized for IoT/eMBB applications.

But no idea if and how it works , i havn’t deal with AP version before.

Hi @VLen
Unfortunately, the firmware version you are currently using cannot be rolled back to the version you need. Moreover, It seems that the firmware version you are currently using is not the standard firmware officially released by Quectel. Could you please tell me where you obtained it?
For specific information, you can check the ReleaseNote document of the firmware.

Dear leon.bao, I got the updates by Win 11Pro update utility and Lenovo update utility.
How can i downgrade it to version i need?

Dear leon.bao, Can you please send me the RM520N-GLAP PCIe Driver and PCIe Driver User Guide? Thank you.

I was never able to flash Lenovo AP with that tool. Using QFlash works if the UDE EDL port is visible. Although I never got far with that since it cannot flash anything but Lenovo firmware once it’s been done once.

If you really want to try and flash the Lenovo you can find the flash utility and firmware in the driver package from Lenovo. Treat it as QFirehose but for Windows. This is the only way I’ve found to expose the Lenovo EDL port. Although I could never remove Lenovo firmware once it was flashed on my generic SGASA version. Any other firmware will fail to boot.

The generic variant (M20-SGASA) is much better since it will have all the ports you would normally find. The Lenovo one is intentionally hidden by firmware lock.

Driver can be found here laptops and netbooks :: thinkpad x series laptops :: thinkpad x1 carbon 12th gen type 21kc 21kd - Lenovo Support US.

Hi @VLen
The driver has been sent to you via email. Please check it.
