RM510Q-GL doesn´t support Airnity network

Hi,

I spent a lot of time trying to connect to Airnity with Orange SP roaming but unsuccesfully. After trying several approaches to the issue, forcing roaming, trying to force connection in almost all networks around, creating different APN(AT+CGACT command gave me +CME ERR 30 all the time ), etc… Only can see this:

AT+QENG=“servingcell”

+QENG: “servingcell”,“LIMSRV”,“WCDMA”,214,04,3E81,A9C49B,10563,193,0,-71,-7,-,-,-,-,-

OK

When I ran AT+COPN I had a list of 1032 operators, Airnity not included. Could be that the problem? Same SIM works great at the phone.

What SIM are you using? Have you been given the correct APN for that SIM?

What is the SIM’s home network? What are the first five digits of the SIM’s IMSI?

Read the IMSI with: AT+CIMI

You don’t have network registration, which might indicate a wrong APN.

What is the SIM’s “forbidden PLMN” list? If the SIM has one, read it with: AT+CRSM=176,28539,0,0,0

No. That list doesn’t affect SIM operation.

From: https://eena.org/wp-content/uploads/Corporate_Directory_December_2023.pdf

Each car using an Airnity SIM will have the capacity to use the Radio Access Network (RAN) of the MNO-partners of Airnity in the country where the car is located.

If Orange SP an Airnity partner?

Is the roaming partner in Spain, When I try the SIM in a phone (Same APN) and select Orange, it connects with no issue.

This is the reply I´d to the command, not sure if 28539 is SIMs real EF_AD, how can list the files on the SIM?:
AT+CRSM=176,28539,0,0,0

+CRSM: 144,0,“12F41012F47012F44012F430FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF”

OK

No issue reading the IMSI:
AT+CIMI

901810000000153

OK

I add the APN and doblecheck several times if properly typed and when CGACT gave me this:
at+cgact=1,5

+CME ERROR: 30

Thanks @snowgum for the hand! I´ll continue researching the CRSM options

When I send the command on this way:

AT+CRSM=176,28539,0,0,12

+CRSM: 144,0,“12F41012F47012F44012F430”

OK

The "F"s are filler digits. You have four forbidden PLMNs (decodes on the right):

12F410	21401
12F470	21407
12F440	21404
12F430	21403

Those PLMN values are allocated to Vodafone, Movistar, Yoigo and Orange respectively, according to: https://www.mcc-mnc.com/

Other PLMN values are listed for Orange there, 21409 and 21421.

What PLMN are you seeing for Orange in the AT+COPS=? command results?

This syntax of +COPS can take a minute or two to return a result.

If necessary, we can edit the Forbidden PLMNs SIM file.

The SIM’s home PLMN is 90181, which is “international”, and belonging to Airnity.

If you want to try removing Orange (21403) from the forbidden PLMNs list, the AT command is:

AT+CRSM=214,28539,0,0,12,"12F41012F47012F440FFFFFF"

Reread with: AT+CRSM=176,28539,0,0,0

You can restore to the original with:

AT+CRSM=214,28539,0,0,12,"12F41012F47012F44012F430"

If you’re still having problems after sorting out any potential forbidden PLMN issue, the next step is to look at the AT+CEREG? result.

HI @snowgum. Finally I managed to do it with the RM510, just realized the APNs are related with the MBN files, also managed to activate de APN I´d created.

Now, since friday I´m testing the RM500, have everything working except I can´t deactivate the default APN. Can activate the one created by me, but when I run CGPADDR have this (mine is “5”):

[2024-07-01_09:44:15:182]+CGPADDR: 1,“10.89.252.5”
[2024-07-01_09:44:15:182]+CGPADDR: 2,“”
[2024-07-01_09:44:15:182]+CGPADDR: 3,“”
[2024-07-01_09:44:15:182]+CGPADDR: 5,“”

As I said, can´t disable the default APN. Also can´t delete it.

Thanks!!

I was going to move us on to looking at MBN next, if we needed to.

So that I can see exactly what is happening, can you please post the results of these commands:

AT+CGDCONT?
AT+QMBNCFG="List"

Hi, @snowgum!!

Finally managed to get it working without MBN;) next a little log of the current status, notice there is no MBN selected

Now, this is a different topic but I believe, you in your expertise, could bring some brightness to this:

I´m the host I have the interface configured, up and working. But have IPv6 and need to get IPv4, any suggestion??

As usual, thanks a lot for your help, really appreciated!

That “IP” says you’re configured for IPV4 only, and not IPV6.

Is that the only line of output from the AT+CGDCONT? command? If so, you’ve not got the IMS APN set for context 2, and this might affect your ability to use SMS.

AT+CGDCONT=2,"IPV4V6","ims"

What does AT+CGPADDR show now?

You had only an IPV4 address back then.

I see you’ve got MBN disabled.

Hi,

Indeed, MBN disabled and only IPV4 configured on the APN, it works fine with Telefónica SIM, but with the SIM I must get it done, no way. I´m suspecting it could be some file on the SIM, kind of EF_AD There are hundreds and already downloaded the TS 131 102 rel 16 to take a look, dense literature…
