RM500Q-GL reporting 5G status to end-user

Hello,

We are experiencing good performance with the RM500Q-GL with 5G-NSA service in the UK (same as a 5G handset). But we note that ModemManager on Linux always reports LTE but 5G-NSA is confirmed working using the AT Servicecell command.

How should we report to the user that they are on a 5G Network? Is there a preferred way of reading this information out and reporting this to the user? Is there also a way of finding out if there is 5G capability before traffic flows on the network? The AT command only shows 5G-NSA when traffic starts flowing.

Thanks,
Kieran

Dear Kieran,
Thanks for your question, you can send AT+QENG=“servingcell” to check if there is a NSA capability and this command also can show the current statues of module.

Thanks, do you plan to improve ModemManager to read this information?

Dear Kieran,
As you know, ModemManager is not provided by Quectel, generally we suggest use QConnectManager instead, it is provide by Quectel and would run better,thanksQuectel_QConnectManager_Linux_V1.6.0.16.zip|attachment (147.2 KB)
