RM500Q 5G NSA not connecting

Hi all,

I have a RM500Q-GL set up in a Mikrotik RBM33G

It’s working fine on Three network UK and aggregating B3+B1+B32 with good throughput.

However, it is not connecting to the 5G NSA that the same tower I connect to, EARFCN 640548 on B78

5G signal according to the module is about -116dBm RSRP and -12 RSRQ and so it enough for it to connect to but the module never connects.

QNWPREFCFG is set to auto

 /interface lte at-chat lte1 input="at+qnwprefcfg=\"ue_c
apability_band\""

Dear @Arthur_Dent
What is the NSA combination? N78+? We need to check if the combination is support.
Actually, -116dBm RSRP is poor singal.

Hi Silvia

N78 correct. It did connect eventually but performance was not great.

I checked hardware design and found that ANT-3 is primary 5G antenna. Swapping antenna from ANT-0 to ANT-3 increases 5G signal to -106dBm RSRP but performance worse than 4G alone

Dear @Arthur_Dent
Actually, -106 dBm didn’t good, you also can check the parameter of SINR and confirm if the quality is good.
If the singal is poor, it also affect performance.
