The modem won’t detect some SIM cards. I suspect it’s because of the current firmware the modem is running. Therefore, I request a newer firmware. The modem is currently on EP06ELAR03A08M4G. Please make sure upgrading to the newer firmware from this version won’t brick the modem.
The module failed to detect the SIM card. Please check the hardware
It’s probably the SIM cards that are causing issues. Could you provide me the firmware anyway?
I have sent the latest firmware to you,pls check and try
I have flashed the firmware without any issues. After rebooting the board, the modem won’t be detected anymore. I have noticed that if the same modem is plugged into the M.2 B-key socket through a B-key to mPCIe converter, the modem works. So the the new firmware causes issues with the mPCIe socket of my board. Please investigate.
I’ve initially reported the modem not being detected anymore here.
Put it into converter where it works and check with AT+QUSBCFG="SS"
The response:
+QUSBCFG: SS,1
OK
Then send it AT+QUSBCFG="SS",0 and put it back into mPCIe socket of your board.
This works. I’ve investigated a bit; it seems this command controls the USB interface the modem uses. On our hardware, the M.2 B-key socket supports USB 3.0 whilst the mPCIe sockets don’t.
It seems the firmware upgrade overwrites the value of QUSBCFG to "SS",1. This is bad behaviour. The firmware upgrade should keep the value of this variable so as to not cause issues such as these. Therefore, I request new firmware releases to respect the existing value of the QUSBCFG variable instead of overwriting.
@herbert.pan-Q please forward this request to the firmware development team.
