Dear Quectel Technical Support Team,
I am an individual user from India. I am not working for any company, and I am not using these modules for any commercial or corporate project.
I recently obtained two 5G modules from scrap circuit boards:
- Quectel RG520F-JO
- UN65A
I do not have any information about the original device, previous owner, application, or firmware configuration of these modules.
I found these modules mounted on circuit boards and I am trying to reuse them for personal use.
When I tried to use SIM cards with the modules, I experienced several problems. The Internet connection does not work properly and is often unstable. Some SIM cards do not work at all. The RG520F-JO also sometimes gets stuck in a boot loop and repeatedly restarts.
Because these modules came from scrap circuit boards, I suspect that the installed firmware may be customized for the original device/operator, outdated, corrupted, or otherwise unsuitable for normal use.
The circuit boards also contain the following components along with the cellular modules:
- RTL8111K Realtek Gigabit Ethernet LAN controller
- Realtek RTL8761BTV Bluetooth module
I would kindly request your help with both modules.
For the RG520F-JO:
- Please identify the correct firmware for my exact hardware variant.
- Please provide the latest standard/generic firmware compatible with RG520F-JO, if available.
- Please provide the officially recommended firmware flashing tool and flashing procedure.
- Please advise whether a firmware update can resolve the SIM compatibility, unstable Internet connection, and boot-loop problems.
For the UN65A:
- Please identify the correct hardware and firmware variant.
- Please provide the latest standard/generic firmware compatible with my UN65A.
- Please provide the officially recommended flashing tool and flashing instructions.
- Please advise whether there is a firmware version suitable for normal network use in India.
I do not want to flash an incorrect firmware intended for another hardware or regional variant, because this could potentially make the module unusable. Therefore, please confirm the correct firmware before I attempt any flashing.
I have attached clear photographs of both modules and their circuit boards.
For privacy and security reasons, I have covered/blurred the IMEI numbers and QR codes in the photographs. If you require the IMEI or other identification information to verify the exact hardware variant,
My goal is simply to repair and reuse these modules for personal use.
I would be very grateful if you could guide me on how to make these modules stable and usable again, and provide the appropriate firmware and flashing procedure if a firmware update is recommended.
