Request: firmware EC25EFAR06A11M4G (or Latest) for EC25-E (voice-call stability)

Hi Quectel support team,

I am running an EC25-E module (VID 2c7c PID 0125, bcdDevice 3.18) on
Linux (Ubuntu 24, ModemManager 1.23.4) and experiencing voice-call
crashes with the current firmware revision.

Current firmware: EC25EFAR06A04M4G
Network: KPN NL (LycaMobile MVNO)
Module variant: EC25-E (EXVIST mini-PCIe)

Symptom: outgoing voice-call via either mmcli --voice-create-call or
direct ATD+316...; over /dev/ttyUSB2 returns OK from the modem, then
within ~5 seconds the modem disconnects from USB and enters a reboot
cycle. The destination phone does not ring. SIM is verified working
(tested in another phone — outgoing calls work fine).

Configuration tested:

  • IMS off (AT+QCFG=“ims”,0) — passive disconnect cycle resolved, but
    voice-call still crashes
  • IMS on + volte_disable=0 — voice-call crashes identically; modem
enters reboot loop on next startup
  • nwscanmode=1 (GSM only) — modem does not register on 2G via Lyca
    on KPN, enters reboot loop
  • UAC enabled (AT+QCFG=“usbcfg”,0x2C7C,0x0125,1,1,1,1,1,0,1) for
USB-audio routing; this is verified persistent in NVRAM
  • AT+QPCMV=1,0 and AT+QDAI? queried; no effect on crash

I would like to upgrade to a newer stable firmware revision, ideally
EC25EFAR06A11M4G (or Latest), which I understand from community posts
has resolved similar voice-call issues on this hardware.

This is similar to the request by @nucha in the thread “Request for
Firmware Update: EC25-E (EC25EFAR06A04M4G to EC25EFAR06A11M4G or
Latest)” — same starting firmware, same module variant. Please send
the materials to my registered account e-mail.

Could you please provide:

  1. Download link to EC25EFAR06A11M4G firmware package (incl. QFirehose
    binary v1.4.17+ for Linux)
  2. Release notes / changelog from 06A04M4G to 06A11M4G
  3. Rollback image (EC25EFAR06A04M4G) in case I need to revert

Thank you in advance.

I have sent them to your email, pls check

Hi @herbert.pan-Q,

Thank you for sending the firmware on June 15. Unfortunately I am
unable to locate the email — it may have been filtered or
accidentally deleted. Could you please re-send the firmware package
(EC25EFAR06A11M4G or Latest, with QFirehose binary v1.4.17+ for
Linux) to my registered account e-mail?

Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you in advance.

I have sent the latest one to your email, pls check

Subject: EC25-E voice-call issue after EC25EFAR06A21M4G upgrade — Netherlands

Hi ae-fae,

Thank you for sending firmware EC25EFAR06A21M4G via SharePoint. Flash via QFirehose v1.4.17 (precompiled from nippynetworks/qfirehose, self-compiled build crashed with buffer overflow during XML parse) completed cleanly in 42 seconds. Modem confirms new revision and registers fine on LTE. Thank you.

However, outgoing voice calls remain blocked. The picture differs by SIM, same modem (IMEI: 8676240698xxxxx — full IMEI happy to share privately), same Dutch carrier infrastructure (KPN, MCC 204 MNC 08):

Symptom A: Lycamobile prepaid SIM (KPN-MVNO)

ATD; → OK

~5 seconds later: modem disconnects from USB, enters ~15s power-cycle loop,

recoverable only by physical USB unplug + 2 min power-off + replug.

Identical behaviour on EC25EFAR06A04M4G (previous fw) and EC25EFAR06A21M4G (current).

Symptom B: KPN-direct consumer SIM (own subscription)

ATD; → OK

AT+CLCC → +CLCC: 2,0,2,0,0,“”,129 (state 2 = dialing)

state remains 2 for 15+ seconds, no alerting, no ringback at destination.

ATH → OK (modem stays stable, no crash).

AT+CEER → +CEER: 0,29 (Q.850 cause 29 = Facility Rejected)

AT+QCFG=“ims” → +QCFG: “ims”,1,0 (setting=1, effective=0)

AT+QCFG=“volte_disable” → +QCFG: “volte_disable”,0

AT+CIREG? → ERROR

AT+QCFG=“imsreg_state” → ERROR

Forcing nwscanmode=5 (GSM+WCDMA only) → modem fails to register at all on KPN.

Already tried (all combinations):

· AT+QCFG=“ims”,0 and ,1

· AT+QCFG=“volte_disable”,0 and ,1

· AT+QCFG=“usbcfg”,0x2C7C,0x0125,1,1,1,1,1,0,1 (UAC enabled)

· AT+QPCMV=1,0

· AT+QCFG=“nwscanmode”,0 / 1 / 5

· Factory reset (AT&F + AT+QPRTPARA=3 + AT+CFUN=1,1) and full reconfiguration

· FDN unlocked via PIN2 on the KPN-direct SIM (no effect)

Both SIMs work perfectly for outgoing voice when placed in a regular consumer smartphone.

Questions:

1. Is there a known compatibility issue between EC25-E (EC25EFAR06A21M4G) and the Lycamobile NL / KPN-NL networks for outgoing voice (CSFB or VoLTE)?

2. The IMS field shows setting=1 but effective=0. Which AT sequence (or APN configuration) is required to actually attach IMS for KPN-NL? AT+CIREG? returns ERROR, so I cannot probe IMS state.

3. Cause 29 ‘Facility Rejected’ is consistent across all destination numbers. Is this typically a network-side policy reject (e.g. M2M IMEI not allowed for consumer voice), or could it indicate a missing/incorrect modem-side configuration?

4. Any Quectel diagnostic command (AT+QENG, +QCSQ, +QNWINFO, +QGMR log dump) that can shed light on why IMS attach fails or which network entity returned cause 29?

5. For the Lycamobile-SIM USB-disconnect crash on ATD — is this a known firmware bug, and is there an internal/test build or workaround AT-config to avoid it?

Happy to provide:

· Full QGMR output

· AT log of a complete ATD attempt with AT+CMEE=2 and AT+QINDCFG=“ccinfo”,1,1 enabled

· QFirehose flash log

· dmesg of the Lycamobile crash cycle

Best regards,
