Thank you very much. I haven’t bought another Vodafone SIM to try again yet. But for Telstra SIM, I chose voice/SMS/data. My current Vodafone SIM is a post-paid SIM including voice/SMS/data.

I activated the Vodafone SIM as voice/SMS/data. It doesn’t work with the BG96 modem.

AT+COPS=?
+COPS: (3,“Telstra Mobile”,“Telstra”,“50501”,9),(1,“Optus AU”,“Optus”,“50502”,9),(1,“Vodafone AU”,“Voda AU”,“50503”,9),(0,1,2,3,4),(0,1,2)
OK

And:

AT+CREG=2;+CREG?;+CREG=0
+CREG: 2,2
OK

More significantly, I can neither send nor receive SMSs (PDU-mode), meaning that it’s not an just an APN issue. The incompatibility is deeper than that.

For the record, my Hologram SIM works in both Cat-M and NB-IoT modes. My Aldi broadband SIM (Telstra network) works in Cat-M mode, but not NB-IoT mode.

Thank you for your effort. Yes, I guess I have to stick with Telstra SIM for now. Thanks again.

Hi guys,
I just have had another problem. Now with Telstra SIM inserted, the regis stat is “not registered”. Please help.

What do these AT commands return?

AT+CGDCONT?
AT+QCFG="iotopmode"

Please check here:

[2022-11-08 09:56:28:070_R:] AT+QCFG=“iotopmode”
Thanks

You don’t show the result from the AT+QCFG="iotopmode" command, like this:

AT+QCFG="IOTOPMODE"
+QCFG: "iotopmode",0
OK

Im sorry, here 's the result:
AT+QCFG=“IOTOPMODE”

[2022-11-08 17:57:22:593_R:] +QCFG: “iotopmode”,1

[2022-11-08 17:57:22:593_R:] OK

That’s NB-IoT (LTE Cat NB1) mode.

In my experience, a Telstra retail SIM doesn’t support this. But you can use Cat-M1 mode.

That’s either:

AT+QCFG="iotopmode",0 (Cat-M1 only), or
AT+QCFG="iotopmode",2 (either mode)

Thanks, I changed it to either AT+QCFG="iotopmode",0 (Cat-M1 only), or
AT+QCFG="iotopmode",2 (either mode)
But nothing changes.

can I know which firmware you are using? I tried to flash the module with the firmware versions: BG96MAR02A07M1G and BG96MAR02A10M1G but still get no luck.

ATI
Quectel
BG96
Revision: BG96MAR02A07M1G
OK
