QuecOpen Support for Modules with eSIM and Global Network Compatibility

Questions:

  1. Which Quectel modules support QuecOpen SDK for running custom applications directly on the module?

    • Please specify if these modules include the ability to access GPIOs, manage communication protocols, or perform standalone operations without an external microcontroller.
  2. Are there any Quectel modules with the following features?

    • eSIM functionality: Embedded SIM for global connectivity.
    • Global network support: LTE Cat 1, LTE-M, NB-IoT with fallback to 2G/3G (if applicable).
    • QuecOpen SDK support: Ability to program the module for custom use cases.
  3. Can the EG25-G module support QuecOpen SDK for custom firmware development?

    • If not, is there a similar LTE Cat 4 module that provides this capability?
  4. What tools or SDKs are required to develop QuecOpen applications, and how can I get access to them?

    • Are there specific licensing or approval requirements for accessing QuecOpen development resources?
  5. Which module would you recommend for a project that requires:

    • High-speed LTE connectivity (e.g., Cat 4).
    • Ability to run embedded logic directly on the module.
    • eSIM functionality for seamless global roaming.

It running Linux and you can running your own applications on it.

ESim is Supported.
E25G cannot support LTE cat 1, cat 4 and 2G/3G. Not support the NB-Iot and CatM.

Quectel would provide the source code of the bootloader 、Linux kernel and rootfs. Cunstomer cound run their own applications.

Quectel would provide the OpenLinux SDK.
For the SDK, you need to contact with the local sale or the Local FAE.
It would not be provided to personal customers.

It is OpenLinux and you can compile the code as you like. Maybe you can compile the code with VIM or VsCode.
It should be compiled on Ubuntu 16.04/ 18.04/20.04.

Thank you for your response.

I need the following information:

  1. Which modules support built-in eSIM with global frequency bands?
  2. Which modules support QuecOpen IT option? I need this because I plan to implement QuecOpen in the future.
  3. Could you provide me with 3 module options:
    • Module 1: Must support built-in eSIM with global frequency bands and have the QuecOpen IT option.
    • Module 2: Must support external eSIM with global frequency bands and have the QuecOpen IT option.
    • Module 3: Must support either external or built-in eSIM with global frequency bands and have the QuecOpen IT option.

Thank you!

Please check the Quectel_EC25_Series&EG21-G_ eSIM_AT_Commands_Manual_V1.0.0_Preliminary_20220930.pdf.

For the ESIM card, it is better to contact with the ESIM provider.

AND modules i need which have Mini PCIe
Thank you!

I know not too much for the eSIM. If it is an embeded Chip like I think it is supported and I know that some customers have tried it.
Almost all the modem you can see that support OpenSolution, including NB, 2G,catM, 4G and 5G modem.
But for miniPCIe or M.2 module, normally it do not support OpenSolution.
Generally speaking, miniPCIe has limited pins, and each pin in the miniPCIe pinout has a fixed purpose. For example, if you want a certain GPIO, then you can only consider not having the audio function and changing the audio PCM pin to a GPIO.

@Bean.Wang-Q,
Thank you for your response.
I am considering purchasing the EG21-G Mini PCIe and eSIM. Could you please tell me which version of the module supports eSIM? I previously bought the EG25GGC, which doesn’t support eSIM, but I’ve been told that the EG25GGB does. Could you clarify which version of the EG21-G Mini PCIe supports eSIM? base on this Quectel_EC25_Series&EG21-G_ eSIM_AT_Commands_Manual_V1.0.0_Preliminary_20220930.pdf.
