I am trying to find the best way to collect signal strength and other connection quality metrics from the EC25 modem. The modem is controlled using the quectel-CM application and works well. However we are installing many of these modems in a variety of locations and need to be able to check in real time the signal quality.
I have read around the subject and I believe a proxy is the solution. The proxy connects via /dev/cdc-wdm0 and runs a server which allows a connection to a socket. To that end I have tried the quectel-qmi-proxy which does connect, but I have not found any instructions on how to then bring up the LTE network interface and gather the metrics.
Does anyone on here have experience in this area?
To summarise,
- How do I obtain signal strength, BER, …, measurements using the QMI interface to the EC25;
- Is the quectel-qmi-proxy the correct way to achieve this?
