Not getting much sgnal strength on LC76G module

Hi,

I am using LC76G GPS module but I am not getting enough signal strength. Is this problem with firmware?, I get signal after more than 100 seconds after power up. I did a signal strength test but didn’t get enough signals. what is the problem? Need to update firmware?

Hi Vrindar,

  1. Please first check the environment you test. Did you test indoors? Or the sky is blocked by buildings?
    GNSS module need to receive satellite signal from the sky. If where you test doesn’t have a clear sky, it will be very hard for LC76G to search for signal.

  2. Antenna checking:
    (1) Did you have a good connection to the antenna?
    (2) What kind of antenna you are using? Active antenna or passive antenna? If there is no power supply for antenna, active antenna won’t work. Because active antenna needs power to run LNA, but passive one doesn’t need.

  3. Please check if there is any poor contact in the RF circuit.

Your issue probably comes from environment and RF signal but not firmware. You can query the firmware version that you currently use by sending $PQTMVERNO*58 to the module.
