New Quectel module - LG580P

Press release on quectel.com.cn about the LG580P, a dual antenna/heading big brother of the LG290P:

Board with Engineering Sample chips are on the Chinese export e-commerce sites if anyone is brave enough for that.

Oh it is actually in the English language product guide v8.2:

Hi Luke
I’m just reading today…
It seems they have given up on the E6 but above all
to the evolution of the Beidou-3;also the B3I signal has disappeared in the B3 Band…
Module spec
Ti saluto

It is the same chip with the same number of channels as the LG290P, but for this module they’re doing two antenna direction so they need to use a bunch of those channels for the second antenna’s location algorithm. I’m not surprised that they removed support for some of the more esoteric signal types to make it work.

See the “U” (not “u”) vendor’s UM98X models for an example of this. The 980 can track some signals that the 982 cannot.

After all I think it’s a firmware matter (on 290P).
Although kisilicon left a free sdk on the KT5030 this opportunity
is not fully exploited as in the case of U which despite being sanctioned,
found developers that made the PPP possible with E6.But the question that excites
me is the ability that has also the KT5030 to send and receive short messages from the beidu constellation…

There is a “free” KT5030A SDK available ?

Vermutlich, according to what they write…

Considering we have to beg for information on this forum it seems revolutionary… but I have not checked.
But instead I am trying to get the Airoha AG3335 sdk from another brand…

I’m a bit disappointed, because the board vendors can’t provide me the latest firmware.
Is LG290P/LG580P using the ARM CPU core like everybody else (except ‘U’) ?
