I have noticed that my RM502Q-GL module performs worse compared to other 5G modules. Under the same frequency band, the RG801H achieves much higher speeds than the RM502Q. I have observed that the speed of the RM502Q module is capped at around 300Mbps, stable and unable to go higher (while the RG801H can reach 800Mbps). The situation is almost the same under “usbnet” 0/1/2/3, as if it is speed-limited. Could you please explain what might be causing this? I am using it in USB mode, and the result of “AT+QCFG=usbspeed” shows me ”30“. Updating to the latest R11 firmware does not resolve this issue.
My version:RM502QGLAAR11A02M4G
Although the module is configured to support USB 3.0, it may not be currently using USB 3.0. From your description, it is very likely that it is currently using USB 2.0.
I made some attempts and solved my problem. I successfully broke through the limit, reaching a speed of 710Mbps. You can also try this method. However, I am running it on USB.
AT+QCFG=“usbspeed",“20” #set usb running at speed 2.0
AT+QPOWD=1 #reboot
AT+QCFG=“usbspeed",“30” #set usb running at speed 3.0
AT+QPOWD=1 #reboot
I found that this might be a firmware bug. After re-flashing, the USB interface speed incorrectly stays at 2.0. You need to manually switch the USB speed once to match the firmware interface.
P.S. Please do not use the AT+CFUN=1,1 command to restart the module, as it seems to cause the executed commands to be lost. At least, this is what the official 50Xq manual suggests.
I found that this might be a firmware bug and hope the official team can check if this is the case. Currently, I have solved the problem using the method described below, but I am not sure if it is accurate. Thank you very much for your response!
I confirm that the RM502Q-GL modem is speed-limited on the LAN port and cannot exceed 200 Mbps, even though the cable has been checked and the link is reported at 1 Gbps. When using the USB 3.0 interface, it can reach over 500 Mbps under the same conditions.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? The device is currently running firmware RM502QGLAAR11A02M4G_01.200.01.200.
Could the Quectel support team assist me with this? Thank you very much, and I wish you good health
Hello, thank you for your response.
Currently, I have found a rebuilt R12 firmware version that can fix the LAN speed limitation issue, but it does not seem to be stable. I am still investigating further and would need Quectel to provide an official updated version.
