LG290P Performance Specs

Hello,

We are designing a pedestrian sports-tracking product and are evaluating LG290P for our use case. Our application tracks high-dynamic pedestrians who sprint and change direction rapidly in open areas. Our baseline requirements are 1-meter accuracy and a minimum 20 Hz positioning data rate.

Please assist us with the following technical questions:

1. Does the LG290P able to provide positioning data without RTK/PPP correction? Will it meet our 1-meter accuracy CEP requirement under standalone or SBAS conditions?

2. Can the LG290P maintain 20Hz update rate without RTK?

3. Can the LG290P maintain 20Hz update rate while concurrently tracking Quad-band signals?

4. Does the LG290P support Galileo HAS PPP? If yes, any documentation related on how to setup?

Thank you for your time, and we look forward to your engineering team’s feedback.

Hi @leo please find the response to your questions as below:

1. Standalone Positioning and 1-Meter Accuracy

  • Standalone Capability: Yes, the LG290P can provide positioning data without RTK or PPP corrections.
  • 1-Meter Accuracy: The module will meet your requirement. The official specification lists an Autonomous Horizontal Position Accuracy of 0.7 m CEP .
    • Note: This accuracy was achieved in a 24-hour static test using GPS L1+L5, Galileo E1+E5a, and BDS B1I+B2a signals.
  • SBAS Support: The module supports various SBAS systems, including WAAS, EGNOS, BDSBAS, MSAS, GAGAN, and SDCM , which further enhances accuracy in standalone conditions.

2. 20 Hz Update Rate Without RTK

  • Yes , the LG290P can maintain a 20 Hz update rate without RTK. The technical specifications list a maximum navigation update rate of 20 Hz . The module is designed to provide this high output rate across its standard operating modes.

3. 20 Hz Update Rate with Quad-Band Signals

  • Yes , the module can maintain its 20 Hz update rate while concurrently tracking quad-band signals (L1, L2, L5, and E6). The hardware architecture is specifically optimized to handle simultaneous reception of these bands alongside high-frequency position output.

4. Galileo HAS PPP Support and Setup

  • Support: Yes, the LG290P supports Galileo HAS (High Accuracy Service) E6 .

  • Documentation: Quectel_LG29xP_Series&LGx80P(03)_PPP_Application_Note_V1.1 | Quectel

  • Setup/Configuration:

    1. Enable HAS: Use the proprietary command $PQTMCFGPPP,W,0x02* (where 0x02 selects E6 HAS mode).
      • Save Configuration: Send $PQTMSAVEPAR*5A to ensure the setting is retained after a restart.
      • Verification: Monitor the NMEA output. Successful PPP activation can be confirmed by checking the GPS quality indicator in the $GNGGA message.
