Thanks for selecting Quectel GNSS module. These two models share the same protocol and configurations.
The main difference is the mechanical size. It depends on your hardware design.
Another difference is the voltage domain. LC29HAA is 3.3V, LC79HAL is 1.8V.
For your requirement, you can consider LC29HAAMD or LC79HALMD.
It’s more recommended to use LDO instead of switch mode for power supply. LDO can provide stable and clear power, which has less ripple.
Please ensure that the VCC and V_BCKP have no rush or drop during the rising time, and then keep the voltage stable. The recommended ripple is < 50 mV.
