Is EC200U-CN a good choice for India? Need info on supported bands + WiFi/Bluetooth alternatives

Hello everyone,
I am working on a project in India where I plan to use the Quectel EC200U-CN LTE Cat-1 module. My main requirement is to send data to a server using this module through UART. Before I finalize the design, I want to confirm whether this module is the right choice for my use case and for Indian network conditions.

First, I want to verify if the EC200U-CN supports the LTE bands commonly used in India. Operators like Jio, Airtel, and Vi mainly use bands such as B3, B5, and B40, so I want to be sure that the module will connect reliably on these networks.

Second, I am confused about the WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities of the EC200U series. Some documents mention optional WiFi/Bluetooth support or WiFi-scan functionality, but several discussions indicate that WiFi and Bluetooth are not enabled by default on EC200U-CN modules. I need clarification on whether this specific variant actually supports WiFi/Bluetooth or if I must add an external module for those features.

Since my project requires LTE communication through UART and may also need WiFi and Bluetooth, I would appreciate recommendations for alternative modules if EC200U-CN cannot provide all these features. Options that combine LTE with WiFi and Bluetooth, or modules that integrate an ESP32 with an LTE modem, would be especially helpful.

Lastly, any advice about using the module over UART for HTTP/MQTT communication, recommended AT commands, and antenna suggestions for Indian LTE bands would be very useful.

Thank you in advance for your guidance.

  1. EC200U-CN is suitable for India market. It supports LTE(B1/ 3/ 5/ 8 /34/ 38/ 39/ 40/ 41) and GSM(B3/ 8). GSM is optional, some EC200U-CN models support gsm, but some don’t support.
  2. EC200U-CN AA and EC200U-CN AB support WIFI and Bluetooth. But for WIFI, module only supports WIFI SCAN feature. Is it OK for your application scenarios?
  3. For BT/BLE/HTTP/MQTT application, I will share related documents to your separately.
