Hello all,
I have a RM520-GL in a GL.inet GL-M2 adapter. The unit is connected via USB.
I am located in the UK and am using the TalkMobile carrier. They are a virtual carrier using the Vodafone UK infrastructure.
The location I am in can receive 5G signal, I have tested this on an iPhone and on a Huawei H112-370 5G router with the same SIM card. The SIM is on a prepay unlimited data tariff with 5G data.
I am confused as to whether my Quectel unit has successfully connected to 5G network, or is just using LTE. I am getting around 200Mbps down and 40Mbps up, so it could be really good LTE, or slower 5G.
I believe the network I use does use 5G NSA, so I presume this means that I must also be partially using the LTE system to get 5G data.
When I check “servingcell” I see both LTE and 5G data, but when I check AT+QCSQ I only see LTE.
When +QNWPREFCFG: “mode_pref” is set to “AUTO” I get signal, when it is set to “NR5G” the connection never establishes.
Does using “NR5G” setting only work in standalone network and not NSA? Will I always see LTE even though I am actually getting 5G data because of NSA? Or does my Quectel have a problem registering with 5G network? Or perhaps my 5G signal is too weak?
Many thanks!
