In the Quectel RM520N-GL modem, if it is positioned at the South Pole in the Western Hemisphere, what GPS positioning values will I receive? Will the latitude and longitude values be positive or negative?
I’d expect -90°,0±180°.
If you’re using NMEA e.g:
+QGPSGNMEA: $GPRMC,044656.00,A,4034.56789,S,15012.34567,E,231024,A,V*32
…being:
40 degrees and 34.56789 minutes south,
150 degrees and 12.34567 minutes east
(some random spot in the ocean off Tasmania, Australia)
So, you don’t get negative values in the NMEA strings: you get “S” (or “W”, for longitude)
