Does anybody understand the firmware version numbering scheme for Quectel cellular modules. I’m using an EM12-G module, which I’ll use as an example, but my question is more general.
EM12-G firmware: EM12GPAR01A20M4G_01.001.01.001
What is the significance/reason/meaning of the numbers 01.001.01.001 ??
Why do these numbers always appear as two repeats of the same numbers i.e. 01.001 + 01.001 ??
From the firmware version, how do I know if a ‘new’ firmware version is compatible with my module?
Hi,@dh29
1.The number “01.001.01.001” indicates whether there are changes in the firmware package on the modem or AP side. For example, the first “01.001” distinguishes the changes of the modem, and the second “01.001” distinguishes the changes on the AP side.
2.Whether the firmware versions are compatible or not. Taking your version as an example, the name of the front part of “EM12GPAR01” must be the same. The naming of compatible firmware packages is generally like this: EM12GPAR01A"XY"M4G, where “XY” are variables and can be changed. Generally, firmware versions like this are usually compatible.
