After a physical power cycle, the audio interface is detected correctly in Linux:
text
card 2: EG25G [EG25-G], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
AT+QPCMV? returns +QPCMV: 1,2, and AT+QAUDMOD? returns +QAUDMOD: 3. All audio-related configuration appears correct.
However, two critical problems occur:
No audio is transferred between Linux and the active call.
aplay -D plughw:2,0 file.wav completes without errors.
arecord -D plughw:2,0 records 2 seconds of audio, but the resulting file contains only silence (Maximum amplitude: 0.000000).
During an active call, no audio is heard in either direction.
Calls get stuck in NVRAM (“ghost call”).
After a call ends (either answered or not answered), AT+CLCC continues to report an active call: +CLCC: 1,1,0,1,0,"",128
AT+CHUP returns OK but does not clear the state.
AT+CFUN=1,1 (soft reset) does not clear the state.
The only way to recover is a full physical power cycle (disconnecting USB and power).
Until the power cycle, subsequent outgoing calls fail or behave unpredictably.
Request:
Could you please provide the latest firmware for this module — preferably EG25GGBR07A08M2G_A0.304.A0.304 or any newer revision that addresses UAC audio routing and call-state lockup on the EG25-G?
Please also include the appropriate flashing tool (QFlash / QFirehose) and any required documentation for the update procedure.
Module details:
Module: Quectel EG25-G
Current firmware: EG25GGBR07A08M2G_A0.204.A0.204
USB VID/PID: 2c7c:0125
Host: Debian Linux, kernel supports UAC
Use case: Outgoing voice calls with audio playback (TTS) and SMS via AT commands
Fastboot, not EDL:AT+QFASTBOOT correctly put the modem into fastboot mode, but this is not the same as EDL (Emergency Download) mode. Fastboot is meant for flashing individual partitions, not a full firmware upgrade.
Wrong tools for the job: Commands like AT+QDOWNLOAD=1 and AT+QCFG="fastboot/debug",1 are either obsolete or not supported on this modem. fastboot reboot-edl is not a valid command on the modem’s bootloader.
EDL requires physical access: To force the EG25-G into EDL mode, you must short pin 115 (USB_BOOT) to 1.8V during power-up. Without physical access to that pin, there is no software-only way to enter EDL.
Fastboot flashing is incomplete and risky: Flashing via fastboot only updates a few partitions (system, boot, aboot) and skips critical ones like modem, modemst1/2, and fsg/fsc. This can cause IMEI loss, bootloops, or network failure.
Result: The firmware update could not be completed because the required EDL mode was unreachable, and the available fastboot method was too risky to use
I am writing to request a DFOTA (Delta Firmware Over The Air) delta package for my Quectel EG25-G module.
Current firmware version:
EG25GGBR07A08M2G_A0.204.A0.204
Target firmware version:
EG25GGBR07A08M2G_A0.304.A0.304
I am experiencing known issues with UAC (USB Audio Class) and call state lockup on firmware A0.204, and I understand that A0.304 resolves these issues.
I would like to perform the upgrade via DFOTA using the AT+QFOTADL command. Please provide:
1. The DFOTA delta package (zip file) for upgrading from A0.204 to A0.304
2. The DFOTA User Guide for EG25-G
3. Any specific instructions or prerequisites for this upgrade path
Module details:
- Model: EG25-G
- Current firmware: EG25GGBR07A08M2G_A0.204.A0.204
- Target firmware: EG25GGBR07A08M2G_A0.304.A0.304
- Interface: USB (Linux host)
- Use case: Voice calls via USB Audio (UAC) with Asterisk/Piper TTS
Thank you for your assistance.
