EM160R-GL AP not getting IP address

Hi Quectel Support team. Like in the title, i have a problem with EM160R-GL AP module. I cannot establish a internet connection. I am located in Poland, and operator that i’m using does not support IPV6 so i’m using IPV4. Module is installed in BPI-R4 with OpenWRT on 6.12 kernel with Quectel MHI drivers compiled in. Hi,

Regarding the QMUXError=0x46 dial-up failure, we recommend checking the following items:

MHI driver and kernel compatibility
You are using the Quectel MHI driver V1.3.8, which supports the EM160R-GL and Linux kernels up to 6.5. Your OpenWRT 6.12 kernel is newer than the stated supported range, so kernel/driver compatibility should be considered. Please try reloading the MHI driver and dial again:
```
rmmod pcie_mhi
modprobe pcie_mhi
quectel-CM-M -4 -n1 -s internet
```
Check the APN
Please confirm that internet is the correct IPv4 APN for your Polish operator. You may also try dialing without specifying the APN:
```
quectel-CM-M -4 -n1
```
Check PCIe and MBIM configuration
Please check the current configuration with:
```
AT+QCFG="pcie/mode"
AT+QCFG="pcie_mbim"
```
The module should be in PCIe EP mode, and MBIM should be disabled (pcie_mbim=0) when using QMI. If MBIM is enabled, please disable it and retry:
```
AT+QCFG="pcie_mbim",0
```
Check the active MBN
Please use:
```
AT+QMBNCFG="list"
```
to check the currently active MBN. Please confirm whether the activated MBN matches your Polish operator. If necessary, you may test with the appropriate ROW MBN.
Provide logs for further analysis
If the issue persists, please provide the complete dial-up logs, including the dmesg output and verbose quectel-CM logs (-v). This will allow us to further investigate the cause of the QMUXError=0x46.

Hi, and thank you for your reply. Regarding Quectel-CM, it works good on other modules such as RM520N-EU, so it may be the case of EM160R misconfiguration. I’ll test your advice, and post results.

Thank you for providing the additional log.

We have reviewed the QConnectManager log. Based on the log, the EM160R-GL is correctly detected through the PCIe MHI driver and is operating in QMI mode. The modem is also registered on LTE and packet-switched attached:

MCC: 260, MNC: 6
PS: Attached
DataCap: LTE

However, the data call itself is disconnected. When QConnectManager attempts to establish the data call using the internet APN, the module returns:

QMUXResult = 0x1
QMUXError = 0x46

This occurs repeatedly during the QMIWDS_START_NETWORK_INTERFACE request, so the data call is not successfully established and consequently no IP address is obtained.

We also noticed that the PCIe MHI communication itself appears to be working correctly, and the SIM is detected as SIM_READY. Therefore, at this stage, the issue does not appear to be related to basic PCIe MHI communication or SIM detection.

As the next step, please try the following:

Please confirm that internet is the correct APN for your SIM/operator. You can also try establishing the connection without explicitly specifying the APN:

quectel-CM-M -4 -n1

Please confirm the active MBN configuration using:

AT+QMBNCFG="list"

and provide the output.

Please also provide the module’s AT+QENG="servingcell" output while the module is registered on LTE.
Since you are using pcie_mhi V1.3.8, please confirm the Linux kernel version and provide the relevant dmesg output from boot/driver initialization through the failed data-call attempt.
