Hi,
I’m working on connecting an NXP RT1060 with the EG800Q over USB. I have a sample from NXP that’s designed for the EC200A. I’ve been able to communicate with the EG800Q over both serial and USB from my laptop, and I’ve run AT+QCFG=“usbnet”,3 to put the EG800Q in RNDIS mode.
However, when I run the sample code it fails to detect the RNDIS interface over USB. The sample expects an interface that’s Base Class E0h, Subclass 01h, Protocol 03h, but the EG800Q seems to only advertise the CDC 0Ah and Communications and CDC Control 02h interfaces. Is there any other AT command I need to send to the EG800Q to make it advertise RNDIS support?
I’ve tried running AT+QNETDEVCTL=1,1,1, which seems to run successfully (although I can’t find it in any of the AT command overviews for the EG800Q), and AT+QNETDEVSTATUS?, which fails (even thought it’s listed in the overview of AT commands).
Thanks,
Daniel
This is the output from running ATI:
ATI
Quectel
EG800G
Revision: EG800GEULDR01A09M04
and ATI+QCFG=“usbnet”:
AT+QCFG=“usbnet”
+QCFG: “usbnet”,3
Is there a newer FW for the EG800Q that I need for it to actually go into RNDIS mode? Because from reading the USB spec it seems that the CDC interface it advertises (class=02h, subclass=02h, protocol=00h) is used for ECM.
For reference, when I use lsusb
on the device I get the following (which matches what I see the NXP sample code finds):
daniel@daniel-XPS-15-9530:~$ lsusb -D /dev/bus/usb/001/025

So, does the EG800Q not support RNDIS?
We discovered that most of the interfaces from the EG800 aren’t exposed through the micro-USB on the dev-board the EG800 is on, but rather through the micro-USB on the UMTS<E_EVB (J801) which the EG800’s dev-board is connected to. In the photo that’s the micro-USB at the bottom. On my machine the USB device is listed as Quectel Wireless Solutions Co., Ltd. Android, and doing lsusb
on it shows the RNDIS interface:
daniel@daniel-XPS-15-9530:~$ lsusb -D /dev/bus/usb/003/018

Edit: powering the UMT<E EVB with external 5V, and then connecting the EVB to the NXP using the J801 micro-USB port, the NXP detects the RNDIS interface.
