EC25-EU: How to to switch SIM connection properly?

I have a router (RUT955) with EC25-EU integrated, and 2 SIM slots. Using DO ist should be possible to select one of the two SIMs to be used.
I figure, that there must be some kind of switch built into the router, to switch the signal(s) between EC25 and SIM1/2, depending upon the DO.
I succeeded to switch from one SIM to another, sometimes, but not always.
Thus, the question: What is the correct procedure here ?
I suspect, the modem somehow must be re-triggered to read the SIM-info, OR restarted, somehow.
Actually, I am toggling RESET_N (according to the routers docs) after settings the DO for the SIM-selection. Works often, but not always.
Symptom then always is, that the modem reports “No SIM inserted”.
I suspect, usually the modem caches some connection info, to do faster reconnection. Is this info always purged on RESET_N ?

Anyone ?
Its a bit confusing, to have verious methods to “restart” the EC25-EU:
AT+CFUN=1,1
Toggling of RESET_N
Toggling of PWRKEY
Assuming, the connection to SIM1/2 has been swtched using DO (GPIO), which method to “restart” EC25 ? Or is this not required at all ?

After the SIM card is switched
Please execute:
AT+CFUN=0,
AT+CFUN=1
