EC20 starting problem

Hi, I have two modules EC25-EUX and EC20F both connected with Quectel Mini PCIe to USB Adapter
Some times when I’m restarting system module EC20 is determined by the system and then disappears. This happens several times. It feels as though it can’t start up, When I swap the modules on the adapter, both start working as if nothing was wrong. Then, both start working on their respective adapters. If it’s a module issue, why does it start working? Regarding the issue, what should I check first?

I’d also like to know if it’s worth updating to the latest version when everything is already working. Are there any bug fixes in the latest versions?

Current fw version of EC20F is EC20CEHCR06A06M1G
and for EC25-EUX is EC25EUXGAR08A14M1G

If we have global changes in the FW and if FW upgrading can solve this issue I want to try.

Hi,

I would suggest swapping the modules and having both work points at the connection and power path rather than at the modules themselves

  • Re-seat both modules in the adapter and make sure the Mini PCIe card is fully inserted every time.
  • Move the adapter to another USB port directly on the host, or use a powered hub, and watch the supply during power-up. Intermittent detection followed by the device disappearing is typical of a supply that cannot hold up at start-up.
  • At the moment it disappears, check the host log (dmesg on Linux, or Device Manager and the USB event log on Windows) and see whether it is a USB disconnect or nothing at all.
  • Check the module LED at that moment. If the LED shows the module running while the port is gone, then the module started and the USB path dropped it.
