We would like to disable the GSM radio in our LTE module (EG915U in particular, but applies to all other LTE modules). The goal is to reduce the testing and certification costs related to GSM. We considered using the EG810M instead, but it lacks some features like dedicated Wi-Fi antenna and Bluetooth. Furthermore we tried AT commands like AT+QCFG=”nwscanmode”, but it is not a “hard block” as other commands like AT+COPS can override this configuration and still connect to GSM. Using the AT+QCFG=”band” command to block the regionally unavailable networks is only a workaround, it still switches to the GSM radio and searches for networks.
Therefore our questions are: Is there a command which blocks the GSM radio completely? Alternatively is there a firmware/hardware variant which disables the GSM radio?
