Developing GUI Applications (SDL2, GTK, or Qt5) on SC206E EVB, Request for Guidance

Dear Quectel Support,

I am currently working on developing a graphical user interface for the SC206E EVB, running the default Linux system provided with the module. My goal is to use one of the following frameworks: SDL2, GTK+3, or Qt5, ideally running on Wayland/Weston, which I confirmed is available in the environment.

After inspecting the Yocto-based SDK sources (qcm2290_linux_r60_r004), I found that:

  • There are available recipes for gtk+, sdl2, and related packages such as libsdl2-image, libsdl2-ttf, etc.
  • Weston and Wayland appear to be integrated already.
  • I have access to the Yocto cross-compilation toolchain (aarch64-poky-linux-), and I’ve started testing simple Hello World examples using the cross compiler.

I would like to ask if Quectel provides:

  • An official guide or best practices document for building and deploying GUI applications (SDL2, GTK or Qt)on the SC206E platform.
  • Any sample applications, prebuilt or with source code, that demonstrate GUI integration using Wayland or Weston.
  • Confirmation if any environment variables or special settings (e.g. WAYLAND_DISPLAY, QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland) are required to properly launch applications on top of Weston in this environment.

My intention is to build and deploy the applications from my development host using the Yocto SDK and test them directly on the SC206E EVB.

Any documentation, guidance, or direction to relevant resources would be highly appreciated.

Kind regards,
José Heinz Möller, M.Sc.

we will check it internally, please wait,
later our colleague will answer it.

We already have a solution to integrate QT5 with SC206E. Please provide your email address.
