Based on these responses and form the attached output file for open area, it appears that the L1+L5 band is selected by default.
We are encountering challenges in achieving reliable accuracy for latitude, longitude, and altitude data (refer to Output log file):
-
Latitude/Longitude Position Accuracy
- In an open area at a fixed position, latitude and longitude values fluctuate within an 8 to 10-meter range.
-
Altitude Accuracy
- In Open Areas: Altitude values show a variance of approximately 7 to 8 meters.
- In Lobby: Altitude values are often unreliable, with readings frequently showing negative values.
Questions:
- How can we improve the accuracy of latitude, longitude, and altitude readings for this module?
- Currently, it seems that both L1 and L5 bands are enabled by default. Is it possible to configure the module to use only the L5 band? If so, what is the procedure?
- Given the specifications of this module, what level of accuracy and typical variation should we expect for latitude, longitude, and altitude measurements?
Best Regards,
Abid
The above attached logs are just for 2 min.
Here are the full GNSS data logs collected from the device over a 20-minute period in an open area. During this time, the device was kept in a fixed location. From these logs, we can analyze how the latitude, longitude, and altitude values varied over time.

1)If this is the antenna https://www.unictron.com/wp-content/uploads/datasheet/H2UJ4U1H2Q0100.pdf
change it for a better one…
2)$PAIR104,<DUAL_BAND_Enabled> , single band is L1 only & PAIR066 is limited,prefixed.But there are
specific module for L1 + NavIC
3) spec says 2.5/5m in open sky.
P.s which $Pair manual use?

Hello bamarcant,
Thank you for quick response.
-
Antenna Suggestions: We are currently using the H2UJ4U1H2Q0100 antenna. Could you recommend alternative antennas that might improve the accuracy of latitude, longitude, and altitude readings?
-
Single Band Configuration: You mentioned that “$PAIR104,<DUAL_BAND_Enabled> , single band is L1 only & PAIR066 is limited, prefixed.” Does this mean that if we want to use a single band, we are restricted to the L1 band, and using only the L5 band is not possible? If L5-only operation is possible, could you provide guidance on configuring the module for this?
-
Manual Reference: You asked which $PAIR manual we are using. We are currently referring to the manual provided with the module. Quectel_LC29H_Series&LC79H(AL)_GNSS_Protocol_Specification_V1.3
-
RTK/RTCM Mode for Enhanced Accuracy: We understand that RTK/RTCM mode could improve accuracy, but it appears that this mode may not be available on the LC29HAA,
based on discussions ticket https://forums.quectel.com/t/lc29h-aa-connection-to-rtcm-3-1-base-does-not-update-lat-lon-values-to-1-cm-accuracy/34016
Could you advise on any additional parameters or configurations that could help us achieve better accuracy within our current setup(LC29HAA +H2UJ4U1H2Q0100 ), given the limitations of this module?
Best Regards,
Abid
Hi Abid, 1) Quectel hasYB0017AA L1/L5 antenna described here
or this one choice for L1/L5 .
2) Only L1 alone…
3) More info here same chip.
4) Module has DGPS sbas feature WAAS, EGNOS, MSAS and GAGAN but also RTCM see $PAIR400,<Mode>
Module can be set as rtcm output and calculate rtk with an external e.g. rtklib (see in link of antenna described rtknavi)
Best Regards,
Marco
