Similar to how there is a North American(NA) and EU(European) versions. The Global(GL) version just isn’t optimized. Yes it has all the frequencies but that’s not good enough without optimization for the region carrier aggregation needs. I think it doesn’t have to be a separate hardware. it can be done through the firmware via different firmwares for each region.
