RM551N-GL Windows drivers

Same behaviour with newest a3, after a while device RM551E-GL in device list receive exclamation mark (!).

That’s very strange. I am sorry that I cannot help you.
Even without any Quectel driver, the MBIM interface should be working.

And RM520N-GL works , but not RM551E-GL…
Does anywan succesfully worked RM551E-GL on Windows ( on QMI or MBIM ) ?

Rm551e-gl usbmode 1 working fine over usb on my pc.

Yes , but this is not QMI (usbnet 0) or MBIM ( usbnet 2).
Usbnet 1 gives “CDC Ethernet Control Model (ECM)” …

ECM driver is also another story , after installation it will not detect automaticly driver to the device , you have to assign manually driver to “Quectel ECM Adapter” , then it will work.

Yes, but in your first message about usbnet not working for you. So I message

Ok , so after manual installation of proper driver to device (beyond instaling Quectel_Windows_USB_Driver(Q)_ECM_V1.0_EN ,since after this it will not automatically do it) it works … ( Didn’t know that when i started the topic).
However ECM gives additional NAT ( gives ip of 192.168.226.x ) , QMI and MBIM are more like a bridging operator’s IP to computer.

Dear, I also encountered the same problem, how did you solve it in the end?

Dear @coldmoon
What is your issue?
You can check AT+QCFG=“usbnet” and install corresponding driver.

Dear @silvia
thank you so much for replying to me.

The problem is the same as the original poster’s initial question.

First, the firmware of the RM551E-GL is RM551EGL00AAR02A01M8G. My system is a Windows 11 PC, and I’ve done several tests. The PHY is normal. Next, let’s discuss the USB.

With usbnet=0 (NDIS) and using Quectel_Windows_USB_DriverQ_NDIS_V2.8_EN, the PC displays “No Service”.

With usbnet=2 (MBIM) and using Quectel_Windows_USB_DriverQ_MBIM_V1.3_EN, the PC recognizes the RM551E-GL, but after a minute, an exclamation mark appears indicating a driver error.

With usbnet=3 (RNDIS), it obtains an IP address of 192.168.225.xxx normally and can access the internet.

I suspect it’s a driver issue because NDIS and MBIM are dialed up by the host computer and then directly connected to the ISP’s IP address, but RNDIS is dialed up by the module itself, so it can access the internet. Furthermore, in all three scenarios mentioned above, AT+CREG will return 0,0, indicating an unregistered network, including RNDIS. However, AT+Cgpaddr=1 indicates a normal IP address acquisition, and RNDIS can access the internet normally.

My RM502QAEAA and RM520NGLAA work normally in any USB mode.

Is this a bug or is it simply not supported by the RM551E-GL?

Have you encountered this during your testing? If you have a solution, please let me know; it’s very important to me. This bug has been present for several months.

Dear @coldmoon
Do you use AT+CEREG and AT+C5GREG?
Or you can use AT+QENG=“servingcell” .

For AT+CREG is used for CS .

Please confirm the driver is loaded successfully in the device manager.

Dear @silvia
AT+CEREG? Returns +CEREG: 0,0
AT+C5GREG? Returns +CEREG: 0,1

The driver is definitely loading normally, unless this driver (Quectel_Windows_USB_DriverQ_NDIS_V2.8_EN) does not support RM551E. Do you have the latest driver? Please send me a copy.

Dear @coldmoon
Currently, Quectel_Windows_USB_DriverQ_NDIS_V2.8_EN is the latest.
From AT+C5GREG, it had registered on 5G.
