RM521-F won't to connect to 5G (NSA)

Hi All

l have modem RM521-F where was working fine for a year and half but now ,it can’t connect to 5G bands (NSA) , The modem can do only 4G+.

Antenna Ports on modems (visually) are ok

Antenna Connection (where I was getting N78 , N40 on NSA)

I tried all the solutions that came to my mind such as

ATI
Quectel

OK

I tried on OpenWRT router and on M.2 adapter 2.5GB

I tried to change the IMEI but also nothing change still I can’t get the NSA 5G bands or 5G Bands at all .also when I scanned nearlly cells

Cell Scanner Start ...

Band : B1    Signal : -36 (dBm) EARFCN : 500  PCI : 36 (current)
Band : B3    Signal : -34 (dBm) EARFCN : 1450  PCI : 120
Band : B3    Signal : -44 (dBm) EARFCN : 1279  PCI : 120
Band : B40    Signal : -65 (dBm) EARFCN : 38956  PCI : 68
Band : B40    Signal : -64 (dBm) EARFCN : 39154  PCI : 68
Band : B40    Signal : -64 (dBm) EARFCN : 39154  PCI : 179

Done

modem doesn’t detect 5G bands …

Note : as I mentioned previously I was able to get NSA 5G on this modem RM521-F but currently I don’t know what happened to it .. in same spot I have RM551 I can get NSA 5G fine without any issue

=========================
Also I tried to reflash the modem with same firmware but no luck still same issue

=========================

Two things came to my mind either the modem defected or antenna ports on the modem defected I’m not sure

I appreciate any advise

Dear @Majid_Alzahrani
Currently, it doesn’t have newer firmware.

Do you try to change antennas? or lock same bands of NSA with RM551 and try?

Dear @silvia
Thank you for your support but i’m not looking for new firmware, where the current firmware is working fine but I don’t know what happened to the modem

  • I tried to change antenna ports but no luck ..
  • I tried to lock on same 5g bands on RM551 but no luck
  • I tried to reflash and install the firmware again but no luck

In additional

AT+QNWCFG="nr5g_4mimo_enable"

+QNWCFG: "nr5g_4mimo_enable",1

AT+QRSRP?

+QRSRP: -140,-64,-140,-62,LTE

this top test when I'm doing speedtest ☝️

======

When I don't do not speedtest, I get this
AT+QRSRP?

+QRSRP: -62,-140,-140,-140,LTE

Is the 551E using the same SIM card (and antennas) when it was able to pick up 5G? I would make sure they’re under the same conditions.

Yes all conditions are same .. same SIM , antennas , Tower ,Bands & PCI .etc…
my expectations are the modem 5G chip is damaged or antennas but need something to confirm that .. but as you see the the condition of the modem antenna ports are very good ..

I see the modem is aggregating 5 LTE bands simultaneously. Did you try to limit it to one band at a time and check if any 5G band gets anchored?

Yes , no luck even …

Dear @Majid_Alzahrani
Actually, it is hard to check the issue, the module is engineer sample, we are not sure whether hardware has problem.

So let me understand something ..

simply
The modem has 2 sections one for 5g and one for 4g as hardware ? is that right ?

Which antenna ports are linked to 5G ? and which one linked to 4G ?

Dear @Majid_Alzahrani
Please check antenna interface as below:
