RM520-GL dead PCIe-Link

Hello

I bought a RM520NGLAA-M20-SGASA modem, which should support USB and PCIe. Actually both interfaces do not work:

USB: When only USB is connected, there is no communication from the modem. Nothing has been seen within Linux (Kernel 7.0).

PCIe: On PCIe I get it as a device with the PCIe ID of 1eac:1007. This is used from PCIe only versions as far as I know. But my real issue is, that the modem does not proper get on the pcie bus.

01:00.0 ff00: 1eac:1007
Subsystem: 1eac:100b
!!! Unknown header type 7f
Region 0: Memory at 83001000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K]
Region 2: Memory at 83000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K]

This usually means, that the modem or the firmware is dead. When using the PCIe, I didn’t use the USB at all. Do I need to connect it, in order to supply all parts of the modem with power? Currently also the drivers tell, that the pcie link is down. The modem is connected via PCIe 2.0 x1 (Supermicro X11SBA-F).

So for me it is important to know the following:

  • Is the hardware dead and I need to get back to he shop?
  • Is there on the software side something I could do?
  • Did they send me the wrong version of the modem?

Thanks in advance

Best regards

Rene

Dear @renepilz
Do you check lsusb? Is there anything related with Quectel module?

Dear silvia

Yes, I did. Nothing related to Quectel shows up.
