Requesting RM551EGL00AAR01A03M8G_A0.001.A0.001

Dear @Star_Chipe
I have sent to your email, please check.

yes, all these speed results are done with same band combinations with both routers, most likely ISP is problem because its tower is far, i have ordered directional anteena for 08 ultra router from suncomm and i will update after i install it. Current situation is LTE performs much better with this module and the RM551EGL00AAR01A03M8G is good so far. This version is already updated into the router firmware. The 5G is slow, but it slow with all devices. Suncomm is using enigeering samples of RM551, is it ok? these will be updated like regular ones?

Dear @safwanAhmadKhan2025
Currently, RM551E is in ES phase, it can upgrade normal.
After enter MP phase, I am not sure if ES sample can upgrade to MP firmware.

Probably won’t be an issue.

Fun Fact: You can take a Fibocom FM190W-GL and flash it with Quectel RM551E-GL firmware. Just need to erase all -e in qfirehose and then restore xqcn from a real RM551E-GL. Basically, turns an FM190 into an RM551

Since Fibocom is done with theirs I predict we won’t have that trouble.

can you share the latest version of the firmware?
thanks

Hi,@andreagiga
Could you tell me your current firmware version?

I’m still waiting to receive the item… could you share in the meantike documentation and sw driver for linux?

Hi,@andreagiga
I have sent it to you via email, pls check.

Is there any new version after A03?

Hi,@safwanAhmadKhan2025
So far, A03 is the latest.

Hi Leon
sorry but I’ve not received the link.
andreagiga@gmail.com
Thanks

Andrea

Everyone is requesting A03 but I think it’s been pretty well documented from users that A02 is preferred. Hopefully an A04 will correct the CA and improve performance when/if released

Hi,@andreagiga
It has been sent via private message.pls check.

hi
it works thanks

Hi Leon,
I’ve an issue with the modem, it does not get the IP from the DHCP:

Have you faced this problem in the past? do you have an additional linux driver to test?
Best regards

if you are copying IMEI from ISP provided modem, make sure that it switched off, otherwise the ISP will block the second device with the same IMEI

but is the a04 version coming?

No Im not going off of any internal roadmap but that is what we would need to hopefully get a better FW than A03. This is one area where updating to the latest isn’t beneficial to everyone broadly speaking in terms of performance and stability. No reason to use anything beyond A02 for most people

i do not believe what others say, and to prove my point and give the audience a broad perspective, in my situation: 1. yes i have suncomm 08 ultra using this RM551E-GL module, 2. yes my ISP has 5g N77 , but what i do for my situation is as follows:

  1. I install updates given to me by the seller, it has A03 version, this version is built into the firmware and the firmware also covers alot of other issues related to the GUI of the router, thus even if i install the firmware with A02 version now, i would not be doing myself a favour because i will face lot of GUI issues related to firmware of the router in general. 2. although my ISP has 5g, but i have selected 4G/LTE as the connection mode, why? because the load balancing and the ping and maturity LTE/4G has during the peak hour is unmatched by the 5G NSA provided by my ISP. So during peak hours i am happy with speed, gaming latency on B1,B3, bands as compared to added N77 band. The N77 band slows down everything during peak hours. My point is for most people, even the older RM520-GL would be more than sufficient for daily use for coming years. By that time maybe this module (rm551) will cease to exist and maybe we will have 6G modules coming out and we will be having a chat about how 5G provides more stability then the new 6G and why i am still using 5G as compared to the 6G provided by my ISP…

Yes I’d agree it’s situational but most are not requesting A03 because that is what is currently installed it’s the latest version just be better mentality. If your buying a pre built it probably would be better to leave as is. If it’s a sled application ymmv.

My isp backhaul is the same as yours in that NSA is much faster with better speeds than SA. However, there are still benefits to the 4CA my 520N sled does not provide or my TMHI router. I can check speeds between all three within a foot of each other. The 4CA still helps in lowering latency and increases download speeds compared to my 520N and TMHI router. So upgrade if you need to but it shouldn’t be out of habit and only if there is a specific benefit to do so
