MB96MC and T-Mobile US

I have the BG96MC with a known good SIM. The BG96MC will connect and register on T-Mobile but only on GSM/EDGE.
Changing +QCFG: “nwscanseq”,030201
or AT+QCFG=“nwscanmode”,3
Only causes it to go No Service or Registration Denied.

Is this Module even capable of LTE on T-Mobile US? If yes - any tips? MBN file?
Thank You

s

Dear Swixo,
Thanks for your inquiry in Quectel forum.
Please note that BG96 module just support LTE-CATM, LTE-CATNB and GSM/EDGE. So if you want to use T-Mobile SIM card, you should make sure the SIM Card you used can support the above network. And please note that LTE and CATM/CATNB are different network. Thanks!

I believe Tmobile can support M and NB. Does the BG96MC work with it - or do I need the BG96MA?

And does it require a TMobile MBN file?

s

Yes, BG96 MC can work with it. Thanks!

Hello!

It’s not working. I just installed a brand new current sim. this BG96MC will NOT connect to LTE on T-Mobile - Only EDGE/GSM.

Is there any troubleshooting i can do to determine what is happening?

s

It is getting stuck like this:

+CREG: 0,2
+QNWINFO: “CAT-M1”,“310410”,“LTE BAND 12”,5110

If this helps.

Please check the following AT commands:
ATI
AT+CEREG?
AT+COPS?
AT+QCSQ
AT+CGDCONT?
AT+CPIN?
AT+QENG=“SERVINGCELL”

And try to fix it to LTE CATM1 only.
AT+QCFG=“nwscanmode”,3 //for fix setting LTE Only
AT+QCFG=“iotopmode”,0 //for fix LTE CATM1

The CSQ quality is quite good, but it limit to connect to CATM network. So it is better to check whether your SIM card have special APN information with operator. Then you can use AT+CGDCONT to set APN information to have a try. Thanks!

I have the latest SIM - I got it today. Even without the APN, shouldn’t it register to LTE?
