How to perform 5G mmWave n258 (26 GHz) testing using RM530N‑GL with Waveshare USB–to–M.2 adapter

Hello,

We are using the Quectel RM530N‑GL module together with the following carrier board:

Waveshare USB TO M.2 B‑KEY adapter:

According to the RM530N‑GL specifications, the module supports mmWave bands including n258 (26 GHz).
However, we are unsure how to perform mmWave testing using our current USB‑based dongle setup.

We need clarification on the following:

  1. Can mmWave (especially n258) be tested through the USB → M.2 B‑Key adapter?
    Our understanding is that this adapter exposes only USB and not PCIe, so mmWave operation may not be supported.
  2. What hardware setup is required to enable mmWave testing on RM530N‑GL?
  • Do we need Quectel’s official EVB that supports PCIe?
  • Are external mmWave antenna modules required?
  • Is PCIe mandatory to activate mmWave paths?
  1. Is there official documentation or an application note detailing the correct method for mmWave RF testing for this module?

Any guidance or recommended hardware configurations would be very helpful.
